Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which "Texas Chainsaw" film do we see a young girl inherit a mansion?

Answer: Texas Chainsaw 3D

"Texas Chainsaw 3D" was released in 2013 and directed by John Luessenhop. John was also the executive producer on "Leatherface".

The film is a direct sequel to the original 1974 film. After the chaos in the first film, locals turn up at the Sawyer farmhouse and burn it down. Fast forward to 2012, a young woman receives a letter telling her she has inherited a mansion. Along with her friends, she sets off on a road trip to collect the keys to the mansion.

Gunnar Hansen, who played Leatherface in the original film, plays Boss Swayer in "Texas Chainsaw 3D". He isn't the only one from the original film to make an appearance. Marilyn Burns, who played Sally Hardesty in the original one, plays Verna in "Texas Chainsaw 3D".
2. In "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (2022), we see a group of friends traveling to an abandoned town. What is the name of the town?

Answer: Harlow

"Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was released in 2022 and directed by David Blue Garcia.

The story starts 50 years after the original film and sees a group of friends traveling to the seemingly deserted Texan town of Harlow. When the friends arrive they discover the town isn't abandoned.

"Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was released on Netflix on 18 February 2022. The film has mixed reviews, mainly negative ones and some saying it was too much of a comedy.

Sally Hardesty, the survivor of the original film, pops up in "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Sally is now a Texas Ranger who has dedicated her time to finding Leatherface. Unfortunately, Marilyn Burns, who originally played Sally, passed away in 2014. Olwen Fouéré took over the role of Sally.
3. What does Stretch do for a living in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2"?

Answer: Radio host/DJ

"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" was released in 1986 and directed by Tobe Hooper.

The character Stretch was portrayed by Caroline Williams. Caroline was born on 27 March 1957. She made her acting debut in 1975 in "Smile". Caroline beat over 440 actresses to win the role of Stretch. Her over-the-top entrance into the casting room teamed with her energy is what the directors loved about her.

The story revolves around a radio DJ named Stretch who works at KOKLA, the Sawyer family and Lieutenant Boude "Lefty" Enrigh, the uncle of Sally and Franklin Hardesty (the brother and sister from the first film). Lefty is seeking revenge for the death of Franklin and the torture Sally endured at the hands of the Sawyer family. Lefty travels to Texas to seek the help of Stretch after he listens to the killings of two young men who called her radio station.
4. Bill Moseley plays two different characters in two different films in the "Texas Chainsaw" franchise. He first played a member of the Sawyer family in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2". His character had a metal plate in his head. Can you guess this character name?

Answer: Chop Top

In 1986, Bill played the character Chop Top in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2". Chop Top is a bit of a quirky character. He has a metal plate in his head from an injury sustained in the Vietnam War. Chop Top is really named Robert Sawyer and has a twin brother. His twin brother is the hitchhiker from the original film.

In 2013, Bill played the character Drayton Sawyer in "Texas Chainsaw 3D". In an interview, Bill said he was happy about playing Drayton Sawyer as he was a big fan of Jim Siedow. Jim is the actor who played Drayton in the first two films.

William/Bill Moseley was born on 11 November 1951 in Stamford, Connecticut. In his days before acting, Bill was a journalist. He made his film debut in 1982 appearing in "Endangered Species". His next big break came in 1986 when he landed the role of Chop Top in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2".
5. In which "Texas Chainsaw" film do we see five young people traveling together in a car, only to encounter a distressed hitchhiker?

Answer: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was released in 2003 and directed by Marcus Nispel. The film shouldn't be confused with the 1974 "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" film.

The film is set in 1973 and sees five young people traveling together to a concert. Along the way they pick up a distressed hitchhiker. The group look for help at a gas station and are told to go to the old mill. Once they arrive the group separate and this is why the fun begins.
6. Alfredo and a hitchhiker named Tex appear in "Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III".

Answer: True

"Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III" was released in 1990 and directed by Jeff Burr.

The story revolves around a young couple, Michelle and Ryan, who are traveling across Texas. They stop at a local gas station and meet Alfredo, the owner of the gas station. A hitchhiker named Tex stops the couple and starts chatting to them. Tex later catches Alfredo spying on Michelle in the bathroom. Tex and Alfredo end up fighting and the couple flee and it would appear that Tex ends up being shot. In the dead of the night the couple unfortunately encounter Leatherface and end up at the Sawyer farmhouse.
7. This film starts in 1939. We see a woman give birth in a slaughterhouse in Texas. The baby is then put into a rubbish bin outside. Can you name the "Texas Chainsaw" film this scene is from?

Answer: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" was released in 2006 and directed by Jonathan Liebesman. It is a prequel to "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" starts in 1939 and after the baby is born he is dumped in the bin by the manager of the slaughterhouse. A lady comes by looking for scraps of food and finds the baby. She takes him home and names him Thomas. After the events set in 1939, the film jumps to 1969 and we see two brothers and their girlfriends driving across the state to enlist in the Vietnam War. The group run into some bother with a biker and the newly self-appointed sheriff, who then takes them back to his house.

Many of the scenes were filmed in the same locations as those used in the "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre".
8. Renée Zellweger stars in "The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

Answer: True

Renée Zellweger was born on 25 April 1969 in Katy, Texas. She is probably best known for playing Bridget Jones. However, her first breakthrough role was playing Jenny in "The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

"The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was released in 1995 and directed by Kim Henkel. In this installment we see four teenagers attend their school's prom, and then end up taking a detour off the main road which results in them crashing into another car. The group ends up separated and two of them end up at that farmhouse in the woods.

After Columbia TriStar Pictures purchased the right to the film in 1996, they re-edited the film and changed the title to "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation" and it was released again in limited theaters in 1997. Unfortunately, the film was classed as being a flop.
9. A group of friends, including a brother and sister, stop to pick up a hitchhiker. He tells them tales about a slaughterhouse and shows them pictures. When he doesn't get his own way, he produces a knife and cuts the arm of one of the passengers. Name the film this happened in.

Answer: The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

"The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" was released in 1974 and directed by Tobe Hooper.

The film was promoted as being based on real events that had happened. The character of Leatherface was based on real life murderer Ed Gein. Tobe hoped by having very little gore and blood in the film that it would be classified as PG. This didn't happen.

The main plot of the film follows the events that happen once the group stop off to explore the old farmhouse that belonged to Sally and Franklin's grandparents. Sally and Franklin are the brother and sister mentioned in the question. Two of the group go off looking for a place to go swimming and stumble upon the infamous Sawyer farmhouse and the rest as we say is history.

The cast and crew worked long hours in the blistering Texan heat with the temperature reaching 110°F or 43 °C. Due to the fake blood not oozing out of the tube in the scene where grandpa sucks on the finger of Sally, they actually cut the actress' finger.

After being at theaters for a year in the UK, the film was eventually banned. The film was eventually allowed to be released again in 1999.
10. In what film do we see a young man being held at the Gorman House Youth Reformery?

Answer: Leatherface

"Leatherface" was released in 2017 and directed by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo.

Set in 1955, we see Betty Hartman and Ted Hardesty stop to help an injured boy. The boy runs off and Betty follows him and ends up being killed. Sheriff Hartman, Betty's father, turns up and takes a young boy named Jedidiah into custody. Fast forward ten years and we now see a grown up Jedidiah going by the name of Jackson. Due to an unfortunate lapse in security, Jackson along with three other inmates escape from Gorman house and take a nurse hostage.

In scenes cut from the film, we found out that Ted Hardesty was actually Sally and Franklin's father. Sally and Franklin are the brother and sister who appeared in the first film.
