Young Winifred Sanderson stomped through the town of Salem and arrived at her home. Her sisters, Sarah and Mary, were waiting for her with a birthday banner. It was her 16th birthday, but Winifred did not show appreciation. She was having a bad day! Young Winifred explained to her sisters that she had spoken horribly and refused to marry John Pritchett.

Rebecca Sanderson is not a character in the film.

In the opening sequences, the setting was Salem 1653. Winifred and her sisters lived alone. Reverend Traske ordered Winifred to marry John Pritchett and she refused. She wanted to marry Billy, whom she shared a kiss with in the graveyard. John was thrilled because she was "so ugly and unpleasant".

She said John was a "lout". The Reverend banished her from Salem and tried to remove Mary and Sarah from their home to "turn them right". Chaos ensued and the three sisters escaped to the forest.

Mother Witch recognized Winifred's temper and knew her to have "power". She gave Winifred the spell "Book" for her 16th birthday. Mother Witch warned her to never cast the spell "Magicae Maxima". She also explained witches stay young and beautful by eating children. The sisters leave the forest with Book, and cast a spell on Salem, burning homes.

Becca rode her bicycle to school. With her friends, Cassie and Izzy, they discussed the usual birthday rituals that were set for that night. It was Becca's 16th birthday and Halloween. Cassie was having a party and would not be participating in the rituals with the other girls.

Gilbert gave Becca an ugly, black flame candle for her birthday. Gilbert tells them that the 16th birthday was when the witch gets her powers. After gathering their ritual supplies, Becca and Izzy went to the woods for the birthday ritual. Cassie was not with them.

She was having a boy-girl party without her dad's permission. The two girls lit the candle and the Sanderson sisters returned. The first thing Winifred Sanderson said upon returning was "lock up your children!"

Answer: The Witches Are Back

The original lyrics were altered for this movie, but stayed true to the tune to Elton John's "The Bitch is Back". The two girls remember it took lighting the candle, a full moon and a virgin to bring back the sisters.

The girls led them to the "apothecary", Walgreens. They told the sisters they could buy ready made potions and lotions with the children's souls "already mixed in". The witches were seen drinking lotions and spraying perfumes in their mouths. The sisters even took a "selfie" with a trio of young girls dressed like the old witches.

Answer: They saw their distorted reflections in the security mirror.

Mary Sanderson saw her reflection in the drugstore's security mirror which was hanging from the ceiling. When the other sisters looked, they were frightened at the sight. Winifred grabbed a store clerk and asked how many children's souls were in the lotions. He replied "zero".

Answer: A broom, a wetjet, and Roomba

Winifred grabbed a broom, Sarah rode the wetjet, and Mary had a Roomba on each foot, which she called "broomies". As the three were flying, they discussed plans to get Book and "run amuck in Salem".

Gilbert untied Book and removed it from the case. Book burst open and the light emitted as a beacon for the Sanderson sisters. "Gilbert the Great" explained that he was the Sanderson sisters "biggest fan". He was a child in 1993, and was present when the Sanderson sisters were sent back to their "death" in the cemetery. After the sisters demise, he went back to the sisters home and found Book. He has had it since 1993. Gilbert's magic shop is the original Sanderson sisters home.

When the sisters arrived, Winifred put Becca and Izzy in the "dungeon" of the house. Mary showed Winifred the re-election flyers of Mayor Jefry Traske. She assumed he was a direct descendant of Reverend Traske. Winifred decided to rid Salem of Mayor Traske.
