Answer: As Good as it Gets

Melvin Udall is a romance writer and the neighbour from hell. As the film unfolds we see that he has a heart of gold. John Travolta was the original first choice to play Melvin.
2. "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy."

Answer: The Shining

Directed by Stanley Kubrick, this is based on a novel by Stephen King and sees Nicholson play a family man entrusted to be the caretaker of a lonely hotel over the winter. Various taglines were used for this film, including "He came as the caretaker, but this hotel had its own guardians".
3. "Hired killers by day. Devoted lovers by night. Until they found their next assignment was each other."

Answer: Prizzi's Honor

Based on a novel by Richard Condon.

This film centres around Aurora and Emma Greenway, played by Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger respectively. Aurora Greenway's interactions with her neighbour, a retired astronaut played by Nicholson, are a highlight of the film. He won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for this role. Oh yes and by the way - his role was originally written for Burt Reynolds!
