Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "I'll make a man out of you."

Answer: Mulan

In the 1998 movie "Mulan", Captain Li Shang sang this line as part of a song of the same name. Huns, led by Shan Yu, were preparing to attack China, and it was Shang's job to train his army to defend China. The army, particularly Mulan, started out as unprepared, but over time they practiced so they could be effective in their battle.
2. "Let me show you the people responsible for ruining my life."

Answer: The Emperor's New Groove

Emperor Kuzco spoke this line as part of his narration of the film "The Emperor's New Groove". In the beginning of the film, he was letting the audience know about Yzma, Kronk and Pacha, whom he claimed ruined his life by being responsible for Kuzco being turned into a llama and being kidnapped. Yzma intended from Kuzco to be killed via poison, but Kronk mixed the poison up with the bottle that turned people into llamas. Kronk put Kuzco into a bag and intended to kill him by throwing him off a cliff, but his bag got mixed up with Pacha's bag.

The stuff Kuzco did say was technically true but not in the way he intended it. Furthermore, Kuzco was a spoiled emperor so the fact that Kuzco, Yzma, and Pacha were involved in things that didn't go Kuzco's way was why Kuzco said they were ruining his life.
3. "Close your eyes. Forget what you see. What do you feel?"

Answer: Tarzan

In "Tarzan", Kerchak, the leader of the group of gorillas, believed that Tarzan didn't belong with the other gorillas, since Tarzan was a human. This upset Tarzan, so his adopted mother Kala, who also happened to be Kerchak's mate, tried to calm him down.

She did this by showing the similarities between them: the eyes, ears, hands, and eventually the heart. This helped Tarzan to not feel so different and upset.
4. "Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?"

Answer: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

This quote was said by the unnamed (in the movie, supplemental material, such as the tie-in comic strip, revealed her name to be Grimhilde) evil queen in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". In fact, this was among the first lines spoken in the movie.
The queen spoke this to the mirror hoping the mirror would say her name, appealing to the queen's vanity. Instead, the mirror hinted that Snow White was fairer than she. This led the queen to try to kill Snow White, so she could be the fairest one of all.
5. "What's a fire and why does it... what's the word? Burn?"

Answer: The Little Mermaid

This quote can be found in "The Little Mermaid". Ariel lived in the sea but wanted to know about the land above her. Over time, she collected objects from the land through shipwrecks, but she wanted more. Her father, King Triton, refused to let her journey above the sea, believing it was a dangerous place. Ariel was confused on what could be so bad about it.

This led her to sing "Part of Your World". The specific lyric in this question referred to one of the things Ariel wanted to learn about the life outside of the sea.
6. "Everybody's picking up on that feline beat."

Answer: The Aristocats

Here's another quote that came from a song, specifically "Everybody Wants to be a Cat" from the movie "The Aristocats". In the 1960s, when this movie was created, the word "cat" was used by beatniks to refer to someone who was part of the in-crowd. Therefore, since this movie starred cats, being a cat had a double meaning.

The feline beat would be a reference to the music that makes them part of the in crowd.
7. "Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten."

Answer: Lilo & Stitch

This phrase was said a few times in "Lilo & Sitch". Lilo said it to her sister Nani when Nani was trying to throw Stitch out of the house. When Stitch was captured by Jumba and Pleakley, Stitch said the phrase to Nani to show her that he considered Lilo and Nani his family. According to Lilo, it was her father who taught her about ohana.
8. "We are all connected to each other."

Answer: Pocahontas

The line was sung by Pocahontas in the movie of the same name. The song itself was called "Colors of the Wind" and was about seeing nature from another culture's point of view (in this case, Native Americans). Pocahontas and her tribe view the world around her as things and objects to be respected not to be hunted.

There were some similarities between what Pocahontas is singing and to the concept of animism, a religious belief that anything natural has a soul. Pocahontas's line to John Smith "we are all connected to each other" reflected this fact.
9. "Our trio's down to two."

Answer: The Lion King

Timon sang this line in the beginning of the song "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" in the movie "The Lion King". Simba had been reunited with his Friend Nala, years after running away from his home, after he believed that he was responsible for his father Mufasa's death. Timon, along with Pumbaa, was afraid Simba would forget them because he would be spending his time with Nala instead.

Instead, what happened was Timon and Pumbaa decided to go with Simba as he went back home to confront Mufasa's real murderer, Scar.
10. "They're after me! They're after you?"

Answer: Aladdin

"Aladdin" is the movie in which this quote comes. This quote was actually said by two people: Aladdin and Jasmine, and it was said at the same time. Aladdin was a street rat who stole food to survive. This led to several run-ins with the palace guards. Jasmine had grown tired of the sheltered palace life and wanted to experience life outside its gates.

She believed the guards were coming to take her back to the palace. Considering the guards didn't recognize Jasmine until she removed her disguise, it was most almost certainly Aladdin they were after.
