Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where does Bobby work?

Answer: roller skate rental place

The movie opens with our roller skating leading man prepping his skates for another day at the boardwalks of Venice, California. He then joins his friends for a skate at the beach before beginning his work day at Horizon Skates. Bobby is played by Jim Bray, a roller skating champion who made his film debut in "Roller Boogie".
2. Terry is preparing to leave for school to further her studies. In what area is her talent?

Answer: music

Terry plays the flute and has received several scholarship offers to continue her musical studies. Her parents decide that Terry should attend Juilliard in New York because its proximity to the Hamptons and Manhattan will be very convenient for them.
3. While at Jammer's, what does Terry hire Bobby to do?

Answer: teach her to roller disco

Terry drags her friend, Lana, to Jammer's, a roller skating rink where Bobby and his friends go to roller boogie. Bobby is attracted to Terry and bets his friend Gordo five bucks that he can get her to skate with him. Terry plays hard to get while disco skating to "Boogie Wonderland", but soon finds herself in Bobby's arms after he saves her from getting run over. Terry asks Bobby if he's the best skater on the boardwalk, and then offers him $10 an hour to teach her to dance on skates.
4. After he fixes her skate at Jammer's, Terry skates away from Bobby. Bobby tries to get her to skate with him some more, but Terry says "Thanks for skating with me, kid". He says his name's not "kid", it's Bobby, Bobby James. What is Terry's response?

Answer: "Keep the change, Bobby James."

Terry already paid Bobby for her first one hour skating lesson with him. They skate briefly, and then Bobby fixes a loose wheel on Terry's skate. Terry starts to head back out to the skating rink, but Bobby reminds her that she still has 45 minutes left. After Bobby tells her his name, Terry replies, "Keep the change, Bobby James", before heading out to skate with a guy on each arm.
5. When Terry gets mad at her parents for not telling her they were going away for the weekend, what does she do?

Answer: goes skating at the beach

Terry finds out from the maid that her parents won't be home for the weekend, and is hurt and angry that they didn't tell her. With friends Franklin and Lana in tow, Terry heads to the beach to skate. When they ask her when she'll be back, Terry delivers the unforgettable line, "I'll be back when I get here". Terry comes across Bobby practicing his skating and flirts with him.
6. When Bobby and Terry are leading the "cunga" line at Jammer's, what causes everyone to fall?

Answer: Terry loses a wheel on her skate.

After Terry runs away from home, she spends the night in her car outside of Bobby's apartment. They hook up the next day and Bobby tries to teach Terry some skating moves. That night, they go to Jammer's for some fun. Everyone calls out "cunga" instead of "conga" because of the song they play called "Cunga" (by Bob Esty). Bobby leads the line with Terry behind him.

At one point, the line breaks into groups with Terry and Bobby still in the front. Terry's wheel falls off of her skate and she falls, bringing down Bobby as well. With no place to go, all the other skaters behind them fall down as well.
7. Why does Thatcher want Jammer's place?

Answer: He wants to build a shopping mall there.

In search of a tool to fix Terry's skate, Phones, Bobby and Terry go upstairs to Jammer's office. Through the door they hear three men threatening Jammer unless he signs the contract to sell them his place. He refuses, but they threaten to burn the place down, maybe while people are in it. They want to build a shopping mall, and Jammer is the last merchant holding out.
8. What do Hoppy, Gordo and the others do to stall the bad guys so Terry and Bobby can get away with a head start?

Answer: throw fruit at them

Thatcher has a guy watching Bobby at the beach, so they know that the kids have evidence against Thatcher. Bobby picks up Terry, and everyone goes to Jammer's house to try to convince him to go to the police, which he refuses. While they're there, Thatcher and his men show up and demand the tape. Hoppy shouts, "Let's get the goons with the fruit" (he drives a fruit truck for his family's business), and everyone starts pelting the car with fruit while Terry and Bobby get away with the tape. Bobby sends C.C. to get Sgt. Danner to meet them at the rink.
9. How do Bobby, Terry and the others prove that Jammer was coerced by Thatcher into signing the contract to sell the rink?

Answer: They have a recording of the conversation.

Phones doesn't have that name for no reason. He's always wearing his headphones which are connected to his ever-present boom box. When he and the others are listening in on Thatcher threatening Jammer, Phones accidentally presses record on his boom box.

They don't realize until later that they have the whole thing on tape. After the bad guys catch up to Terry and Bobby at Jammer's, the tape is finally played for Sgt. Danner, who arrests the bad guys.
10. What happens at the roller boogie contest?

Answer: Terry and Bobby win the contest.

Terry's father, who is Thatcher's lawyer, arrives at the rink and declares the contract invalid after hearing the tape. That night, the kids get to have their roller boogie contest after all, with Terry and Bobby winning the coveted trophy. Terry and Bobby share a tearful goodbye when she leaves for Juilliard, but promise to write to each other.
