In an effort to protect her child, Chimp 9 goes on a rampage. She vaults into the conference room while discussions are underway for approval of the experimental drug. After the spectacle, the board is reluctant to approve any further funding for research.

The CEO, Stephen Jacobs (David Oyelowo) demands that the subjects be destroyed. However, one subject is saved. Will adopts the chimp and Will's father names him, Caesar. Caesar has inherited his remarkable intelligence from his mother and ultimately becomes the leader of the primates.

John Lithgow, born in 1945, has played a number of successful roles in a wide range. In this film, he portrays the character of Charles, who is beset with Alzheimer's disease. Will is saddened by the rapid mental deterioration of Charles, so Will decides to apply his experimental drug on Charles. Charles experiences an almost immediate benefit from the drug and regains his former great talent in music.

Answer: He viciously attacks a neighbor.

Charles, Will's father, sadly gets into a neighbor's car and haphazardly smashes the car into adjacent vehicles. The neighbor is outraged and accosts Charles. Being overly protective, the chimp lashes out after the unruly neighbor, tracks him down and ultimately bites off his finger. This act results in the incarceration of the chimp.

Sequestered in their cages, Will's chimp unexpectedly meets a clever orangutan, named Maurice. Maurice has learned sign language and is able to communicate with the chimp. They form a mutually beneficial relationship.

Answer: He closes the cage door and refuses to go home with Will.

Will offers the officer in charge a large sum of money. The bribe is accepted and Will is allowed to set the chimp free. However, the chimp has other plans. He resolutely declines the offer to go home with Will and closes the cage door. The official blandly says, "I guess he likes it better here with his own kind."

Answer: Icarus

Newspaper headlines depict the launch of a spacecraft headed to Mars. The spacecraft is later determined to be missing. The name of the craft is the Icarus.

Answer: "Caesar is home."

Will returns to a memorable spot wherein they shared nice memories. Initially, Will is attacked by an unsympathetic primate. Will's chimp intercedes and fends off the attack. Will insists that he will protect his adopted son if he comes home. The chimp embraces Will and says, "Caesar is home." Will accepts this.

The chimp climbs to the top of a majestic redwood tree overlooking the San Francisco Bay.
