"Sweeney Todd": A Compilation Trivia Quiz

In the beginning the music is accompanied by an animated sequence, which follows the path of a person being killed by Sweeney, however this person is never seen. In the beginning, the barber's chair is seen when the camera zooms in to the gears of the chair. Blood runs down the gears until the hatch is opened and the presumed body slides down.

The meat grinder grinds up the meat before the pies are put into the oven. Blood comes out of the pies which subsequently runs into the sewer.

Signor Pirelli's claim to faim is that he has allegedly shaven the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. Sweeney Todd is unimpressed and challenges Pirelli to a shaving contest which he comically wins. The scene takes place directly after the song, "Pirelli's Miracle Elixer".

The entire scene happens after Sweeney returns to Mrs. Lovett's shop and sings "My Friends". Pirelli sings this song flamboyantly to undermine Sweeney Todd's skills as a barber. Sweeney Todd is the obvious underdog in this contest, but Pirelli wants to drive the point home.

After Beadle falls through the chair, Toby, Mrs. Lovett's apprentice, is surprised and terrified, and hides in the sewer. Toby is not seen again until he comes out of the sewer to kill Mr. Todd. Beadle Bamford is the Judge's second in command. He always does what Turpin tells him to and is always courteous in adressing him.

This is shown with a humorous exaggeration in the song, "Ladies in Their Sensitivities", where Beadle says the phrase "my lord" fifteen times, even though this is the shortest song throughout the movie.

During a particularly upbeat song, the music turns frightening as Sweeney Todd kills his buisiness partner and admirer, Mrs. Lovett. Drowning and suffocating are never shown or mentioned in the movie, however bludgeoning with a kettle is. After Todd beats Pirelli in the contest, Pirelli comes back to try to blackmail Sweeney. Sweeney becomes enraged and repeatedly hits Pirelli with a kettle, however, Pirelli only dies when Sweeney slits his throat.

Mr. Todd and Mrs. Lovett sing about how they will dispose of the bodies in a hilariously upbeat song, "A Little Priest", in which they mention puns which state whether or not a man would be good to eat. This is the last part of the song, which takes place directly after Todd has his chance to kill the Judge and they try to decide what to do with the body of Pirelli.

His real name is Benjamin Barker. Mrs. Lovett first says this after singing the song, "Poor Thing". Sweeney changes his name because of his new identity, as a revenge-taking man, and also for the obvious reason of protecting his true identity. He mentions the change directly after the song "Poor Thing", after Mrs. Lovett says, "Well, I can't say the years have been particularly kind to you Mr. Barker".

Gracie May and one of her sisters, not Elizabeth, play the baby Johanna. Jayne Wisener plays Johanna, and Nick Haverson is one of the men being shaved in the contest between Pirelli and Todd. Jayne Wisener is a new find along with Edward Sanders, who plays Tobias Ragg.

Mrs. Mooney is mentioned in two songs, "A Little Priest" and "The Worst Pies In London". Though Mrs. Mooney is never seen, she is the one to give Mrs. Lovett the idea of using unconventional meats in her pies. This song is sung by Mrs. Lovett when Sweeney comes into her shop for the first time since returning from Australia.

She tries to explain how horrible her pies are and Sweeney is stunned by her sudden outburst.

This quote is said to Anthony Hope after he is invited into Judge Turpin's house. The Judge is furious with Anthony because he, "gandered," at his ward.
Anthony is quite terrified, replying, "I think there's been some mistake."

Helena Bonham Carter plays the all-important role of Mrs. Lovett. The beggar woman is almost a candid, comical character throughout the movie, often popping up in scenes that seem unimportant such as in the song, "God, That's Good!", until the end when Todd finds out that he has killed his wife. Jayne Wisener plays the teenaged Johanna, and Gabriella Freeman plays the baby Johanna as well. Kelly is a relatively new find, having only starred in an obscure televison movie before her role in "Sweeney Todd".
