"Sweeney Todd": Lyrics Trivia Quiz

In the beginning Anthony Hope sings "I have sailed the world, beheld its wonders." And later on in the song, Sweeney Todd makes a point to Anthony saying "I too have sailed the world and seen its wonders." In the beginning, Anthony is singing this song because he is arriving in London with Sweeney Todd and they are discussing, through song, how they feel about London. Later on, Sweeney is singing to Mrs. Lovett and he is telling her how the men of this world are horrible creatures.

Johanna only sings one song in the entire movie, and that is "Green Finch and Linnet Bird". While in the actual stage play, Johanna does sing more than once, they cut out several songs and parts in the movie to save time and focus more on other characters. Johanna is singing about her 'cage' because she is locked in the house where she resides and is not allowed to do anything.

The name of this song is "Johanna". One point Mr. Todd makes throughout the movie is how his wife had yellow hair and how he wants Johanna to have the same yellow hair. When Anthony sees Johanna, the one things that sticks out most clearly in his mind is her hair.

In this scene Tobias is trying to get people to buy Pirelli's Miracle Elixir, which is also the name of the song. However it doesn't take long before Mr. Todd shows it up as a scam, made from ink and pee. His Miracle Elixir is supposed to make hair grow on your head, much like today's Rogaine.

This song is "The Contest", in which Mr. Todd and Signor Pirelli compete to see who can shave the smoothest and fastest shave. While Signor Pirelli is busy singing his heart out and showing off to the audience, Mr. Todd slowly applies the lather to the face of his volunteer and then on the last, long, note Signor Pirelli sings, Mr. T completely shaves his volunteer and wins the contest.

This song is known as "A Little Priest", where Mrs. Lovett comes up with the idea to cook the bodies and make them into pies. This is funny, in a sense, because it was her who, in the beginning, said that it was disgusting how Mrs. Mooney cooked cats in her pies. Throughout the song they sing about how certain people would taste.

In the brightest scene of the movie, Mrs. Lovett reveals to Mr. T how she wants to live by the sea and marry him in a song called "By the Sea". She talks about how she'd love to do this if the business they have keeps going well.
