In 2004 his autobiography "30 Years of Sausage, 50 Years of Ham" was released. In 2008 he made a donation of $1,000,000 to Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, USA. Jimmy Dean said "I've been so blessed and it makes me proud to give back, especially to my hometown."
