"Death To My Hometown" was the third single on Springsteen's 2012 LP, "Wrecking Ball". The song was a protest song about the financial crisis hitting New Jersey in 2007-2008. Although not a US single, the song was a mainstay at the Wrecking Ball Tour by the E Street Band.

"The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll" was a protest song by Bob Dylan in 1964. The grim theme was a true story of a racially motivated killing in Maryland.
