The 'Classic House' Collection Quiz
In 2015, DJ Pete Tong teamed up with Jules Buckley and the Heritage Orchestra to perform at the BBC Proms and the set certainly challenged preconceived ideas about the house genre. In 2016, the 'Classic House' album was released to recapture the moment.

As was the case with the fantastic celebration of house music performed at the 2015 BBC Proms, Pete Tong and the Heritage Orchestra (Jules Buckley conducting) open 'Classic House' (2016) with a strong remake of Fatboy Slim's 1999 hit 'Right Here, Right Now'. This song is a dance staple in its own right but the introduction of house and classical elements culminate in a dramatic and atmospheric four minutes of music.
Following on from the Fatboy Slim remake is 'Pjanoo', a classical crossover take on the track of the same name by Swedish DJ, Eric Prydz. 'Pjanoo' reached number two in the UK charts back in 2008 but it would be hard to argue that it constitutes a well-known tune even when considering its inclusion in the soundtrack for 'The Ballad of Gay Tony' expansion of the video game, 'Grand Theft Auto IV'. Listening to both versions of 'Pjanoo' one after the other it becomes evident that injecting an element of orchestral drama to the progressive house original certainly adds rather than detracts on this occasion.
The upbeat number 'Lola's Theme' (2004) by the Shapeshifters (vocals by Cookie) rather pleasingly makes an appearance in 'Classic House' and whilst a degree of seriousness is brought to the track by the Heritage Orchestra, this particular interpretation of 'Lola's Theme' still lifts the spirit. The mood quickly changes as the next track brings with it sombre notes, as would be expected with any remake of the 1995 dream house classic by Robert Miles, 'Children'.
As a fan of the discography of Moby, I fully support the songwriter from New York being featured on this album twice; both 'Go' (1991) and the magnificent downtempo single, 'Porcelain' (2000), receive the orchestral treatment and, for the latter of the two in particular, the result is magical. I have shamelessly listened to 'Porcelain' on repeat for the majority of the time it has taken to craft this quiz. I will end this particular segment with the words of Jim DeRogatis from the 'Chicago Sun-Times', "[if 'Porcelain'] didn't move you (in every sense of the word), then you probably had no pulse".
'Classic House' takes the viewer back to the techno scene of the late eighties with a remastering of 'Good Life' (1988) by the Michigan band, Inner City, though there appears to have been a creative decision made to use of the vocals of Katy B (from the Geeneus remake of the track) rather than the original vocals of Paris Grey.
Alongside Moby, the British band Rudimental make two appearances on the 'Classic House' album with the energetic liquid funk release of 2013, 'Waiting All Night' (feat. Ella Eyre), and 'Feel the Love' (2012) that features the vocal talent of Yorkshire's John Newman.
It would most certainly have been an oversight on the part of Pete Tong to have not turned his attention to the British band Faithless and their anthem, 'Insomnia' (1995). The American music magazine, 'Billboard', described the original as "a towering house opus wrapped around a late night's restlessness"; perhaps because of the "towering" strength of the 1995 original, the attempt at an orchestral interpretation of this track towards the tail-end of the album seems to fall somewhat flat. Maybe you disagree?
Other tracks on the album include '9PM (Till I Come)' by ATB, Jamie Principle's 'Your Love', 'Belfast' by Orbital and 'Rachel's Song' by Vangelis.
Note: The comma is absent in the 'Right Here, Right Now' answer within the body of the quiz itself due to the nature of compiling Collection quizzes here at FunTrivia. If this changes in the future then the quiz will be updated in pursuit of accuracy.
