Answer: Island Records

The Island Records years have a much rougher and less commercial sound.
2. Mott the Hoople was about to call it quits, but a fan and a great musician revived their career. Who was he?

Answer: David Bowie

David Bowie wrote "All the Young Dudes" for Mott the Hoople and produced their first record on Columbia records. He also offered "Drive In Saturday" but was turned down by the band.
3. Who was Mott the Hoople's lead singer?

Answer: Ian Hunter

He would later have a successful solo career with Mick Ronson.

Mick Ralphs teamed up with Paul Rodgers from Free and the rest is history. Mick Taylor was with the Rolling Stones, Mick Jones from The Clash and Mick Ronson was with David Bowie.

"Live" was released after they broke up. They were also the first rock band to play on Broadway. "Live" was recorded at The Hammersmith Odeon in London and on Broadway. This is the first time a rock band played on Broadway with Queen as the opening act.

He is rarely seen without wearing his big black shades.

I prefer the original version; it was sung by Mick Ralphs and Ian Hunter. It has a much rawer sound.

He was from Spooky Tooth. He played on the album "The Hoople" and was asked to leave while on tour. Listen to the "Live" album you will see why.

He was David Bowie's guitar player and would later become life-long partners with Ian Hunter, later to be known as the Hunter Ronson Band. He played on one song after joining which was Ian Hunter's fanfare "The Saturday Gigs". Bill Nelson was with Be Bop Deluxe, Marc Bolin was with T Rex, and Phil Manzanera was with Roxy Music.

They tried unsuccessfully under the name Mott and later had critical success as the British Lions. I love their version of "Wild in the Streets".
