Robert William Hoskins was born October 26 1942 in Bury St Edmunds. He made his stage debut in 1969 and hit it big in 1978 in Dennis Potter's "Pennies From Heaven". He has starred in British films "The Long Good Friday", "Mona Lisa", "Brazil", "Enemy at the Gates" and advertised British Gas and British Telecoms on TV.

He is best known for playing detective Eddie Valiant in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"

Dr. Elizabeth Garrett Anderson was born in Aldeburgh on 9 June 1836 and died 17 December 1917. In 1860 she resolved to study medicine. This was an almost unheard of thing for a woman in those days. She initially obtained medical education at the Middlesex Hospital but was refused admission as a full student from there and from many other medical schools. She managed to study anatomy privately at the London Hospital with the help of some professors from St Andrews University.

She obtained a qualifying diploma to practise medicine but London University, the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons, and many other examining bodies refused to allow her to take the examination which would let her fully practice medicine. In 1865 The Society of Apothecaries did allow her to enter for the Licence of Apothecaries' Hall and in 1866 she was appointed general medical attendant to St Mary's Dispensary, where poor women could get treatment from women. Her determination paved the way for the female doctors of today and also helped to establish women's hospitals.

Britten was born in Lowestoft on November 22 1913 and began composing as a child. He composed "Peter Grimes", "Billy Budd", "Albert Herring", "Owen Wingrave" and "The Turn of the Screw". Other works include "The Prince of the Pagodas", "Parables for Church Performance", "Curlew River", "The Burning Fiery Furnace" and "The Prodigal Son".

Thomas Cardinal Wolsey, was born in 1475 in Ipswich. Throughout his religious career he held many positions including Bishop of Lincoln which he was appointed to in 1514, Archbishop of York from 1514-1530. He was also Lord Chancellor from 1515-1529 and Bishop of Durham from 1523-1529.

He was an adviser to Henry VIII and was a capable statesman and administrator includng for England's foreign affairs. Wolsey was known for his foreign policy and tried to make allies of France and Spain. He created the The Treaty of London in 1518 where he organised a peace summit of twenty nations and put England at the head of European diplomacy. Another of his triumphs was the Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520 where he organised a meeting between the French king, Francis, Henry, and 5,000 followers where England could display its wealth and power to the rest of Europe, increasing its reputation.

When Henry VIII decided to seek to end his marriage to Catherine of Aragon, Wolsey was aware of the diplomatic problems this could cause. Due to a delay in the annulment, which arose from delay on the part of the Pope, Wolsey was stripped of government office and of his property, including York Place. Wolsey remained Archbishop of York but was soon accused of high treason and ordered to London. He was in great distress as he set out on the journey and fell ill and died on November 29 1530 at Leicester, where he is buried.

Dan Hawkins was born in Lowestoft in 1976 and is the younger brother of Justin Hawkins of "The Darkness".
