Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. According to Luke, which of these men climbed a tree to see Jesus?

Answer: Zaccheaus

Luke 19:1-4. This man was known as a big time tax collector so you know he was financially well-off. Unfortunately, his short stature didn't allow him to see over the crowd witnessing Jesus walk, so he found a sycamore tree to climb in order see Him. Talk about effort!
2. As described in Exodus, who was asked by God to get two tablets of stone?

Answer: Moses

Exodus 24:12. God called up Moses for the tables of stone that had the Ten Commandments written on them, but in order to see what they were go back four chapters to Exodus 20:1-17 and if you read further, God was addressing Moses and everyone else that made it out of Egypt with him. The people were afraid of speaking with God because of the mountain smoking and thundering they heard.
3. Which of these was NOT a written phrase Jesus quoted to Satan during his temptation in the desert, as described in the gospels? (HINT: He did not say "it is written" before he said it.)

Answer: "Get thee hence"

Matthew 4:1-11, Mark 1:12-13, and Luke 4:1-13. Jesus was there for forty days being tempted by the devil to get him off his purpose. He definitely stood his ground as he quoted many scriptures of the Old Testament like the infamous, "Man shall not live by bread alone" and "Thou shalt not tempt the LORD thy God".
4. Which Old Testament figure grew his hair back while in prison grinding grain?

Answer: Samson

Judges 16:15-22. Samson was so sorely vexed by Delilah's nagging about the secret of his great strength that he eventually, after lying three times to her, told her about his vow to God, as a Nazarene, of never cutting his hair. Delilah seized this opportunity to call upon the Philistine lords to cut off his hair and capture him.

Not to worry, he eventually grew it back while in prison and as a result his strength returned.
5. Which ear do the Gospels record Simon Peter cut off of the High Priest's servant?

Answer: his right ear

Luke 22:47-51 and John 18:10-11. During the betrayal and capture of Jesus Christ a skirmish took place and Peter ended up cutting off the ear of the High Priest's servant, whose name was Malchus. Jesus healed his ear after ordering Peter to put his sword back in his scabbard.
6. What does the name "Emmanuel" mean?

Answer: God with us

Matthew 1:23. This scripture is a direct interpretation of what was written in Isaiah 7:14 (in that verse the name is spelled "Immanuel"), that a virgin shall conceive the messiah. Christians believe that Mary was that virgin, and Jesus the expected saviour.
7. Out of these Old Testament figures, who is best known for witnessing a hand writing on the wall?

Answer: Belshazzar

Daniel 5:5. King Belshazzar, son of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, had a great feast. He demanded that the sacred cups that came from Israel, a land they conquered, be brought forth to drink out of. With those same cups, he praised false gods of gold, silver, brass, iron, wood and stone.

The Lord God was not happy with this act of sacrilege. Hence, He sent the hand to write the fate of Belshazzar and his kingdom on the wall, which His prophet Daniel was brought in to interpret and clarify. This story is good. I'll let you read the rest on your own.
8. How many days did Noah wait until he sent out the dove a second time to see if the waters receded?

Answer: 7

Genesis 8:8-11. The great flood lasted over 150 days, and Noah had to be sure that enough time had passed for the waters to no longer be flooding the earth. He sent the raven out first, no land. He sent out the dove, no land. Waited seven days until he sent the dove out again only to find an olive leaf in its mouth when it returned, therefor he was assured that the flood was reaching its end.

It took him another seven days for the dove to be sent out again and never return clarifying that the flood ended.
9. Hezekiah was king over what country?

Answer: Judah (Southern Kingdom)

2 Kings 18:1-3. Hezekiah began his reign over Judah at the ripe age of 25. He's known for having his lifespan extended 15 years in the book of Isaiah as he was sick to the point he felt like he was going to die. God had mercy on him and gave him that lifespan extension considering that he did righteously in his sight.
10. During creation week, on what day did dry land appear?

Answer: 3rd Day

Genesis 1:9-13. It was here also that God created the plant life, even the fruits through seeds were created here. A whole vegetation.
