The exact year is not as important as the approximate timeline of Biblical events. Most events are hundreds of years apart in this quiz. Note that the books of the Old Testament are not always in chronological order; this quiz is about the events they record, not the order in which they appear.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Cain kills Abel

One of the first major events to happen to the first family of the Bible was the ousting of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. Following their removal, their first two children, Cain and Abel, were involved in the first murder of the Bible when Cain killed Abel with a stone.

Some historians have estimated this timeline event was in 3720 BC. Whenever it was, it is clearly the first of the events in this quiz to have occurred according to the Bible.
2. Noah builds an ark

The Great Flood (according to dating based on Biblical evidence) occurred around 2500 BC and we know that Noah's construction of the Ark and the gathering of the food and animals took place 100 years prior to this great flood. In Genesis 5:32 (KJV) we read that Noah was 500 years old when he started construction, and the flood happened when he was 600 (Genesis 7:6 of the KJV).
3. The Tower of Babel

In Genesis 7 (KJV) we read of the creation of the Tower of Babel by the Babylonians in defiance of God. For this blasphemy God could have sent a second flood but (in accordance with the promise made to Noah, refrained) instead confused the disobedient by having those at the Tower suddenly speaking in new languages where they couldn't communicate and spread away from the Tower.

This occurred about 400 years after Noah's ark landed safely.
4. The Exodus of Jews when Moses was 80

In Exodus 7:7 (KJV) we read that Moses was 80 and his brother Aaron was 83 years old when the Jews left Egypt. Based on the estimate of the reign of Egyptian pharaohs during this time period, historians place the exodus as either 1446 BC or 1225 BC as the exact name of the pharaoh isn't given in the Bible.
5. Saul becomes king

In 1 Samuel 10 (KJV) we read of Saul becoming the new King of Jerusalem. Samuel was eating breakfast with Saul and proclaimed that he was chosen to become "king of all Israel". Samuel christened Saul by pouring olive oil over his head to anoint him.
6. David kills Goliath

David was the father of Solomon and followed King Saul. With this chronology, the timeline would fall squarely between these two events. 1 Samuel 18 details the battle against the Philistine giant and David's victory with a slingshot and a rock.
7. Solomon writes "Proverbs"

King Solomon's reign came after David's and occurred between 1015 and 975 BC, so during this time period Biblical scholars believe the book of Proverbs was written. The Bible book of Proverbs has opening chapters about virtue and integrity. Chapters 10-29 are a collection of life's wisdom and the last chapters admonish believers to continue to fear the Lord and praise Him.
8. Jonah is sent to Nineveh

In Jonah 1-4 in the KJV we read of God commissioning Jonah to "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me." As Jonah grew afraid of approaching Nineveh and giving this bad news, God had a large fish (some say a whale) swallow Jonah alive. The book of Jonah tells us God rescued Jonah and he continued his mission to Nineveh.
9. Daniel survives the lions' den

In Daniel 6 (KJV) we read, "Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions." The King of Babylon wanted to see if Daniel's God would keep him alive and Daniel prayed for strength and protection and was rescued from the lions' den. Historians estimate that happened around the date of 539BC, based on when King Darius of Babylon reigned.
10. Nehemiah restores laws

In one of the latest-set books of the Old Testament we learn of Nehemiah's supervising the rebuilding of Jerusalem in the mid 5th Century BC. Along with the physical structures being restored, Jewish laws were reinstalled at this time. Artaxerxes 1 was the ruler of Babylon during this period and this is where the estimated date was derived.
