Samson's story can be found in the book of Judges, chapters 13 through 16. The birth of Samson was announced by an angel with instructions of how the baby should be cared for. Judges 13:2-3 says: "A certain man of Zorah, named Manoah, from the clan of the Danites, had a wife who was sterile and remained childless.

The angel of the LORD appeared to her and said, 'You are sterile and childless, but you are going to conceive and have a son.'"

Answer: Jesse

The book of 1 Samuel tells the story of how this young shepherd boy became the most important king of Israel. When Samuel came to anoint the future king, Jesse brought all his other sons but God had not chosen any of them. Finally David, who had been tending the sheep, was called to appear before Samuel and immediately Samuel anointed him as king.
