The two surfing events were contested at Teahupo'o, a village on the southeast coast of Tahiti in French Polynesia, located in the southern Pacific Ocean. This location hosts the annual Billabong Pro Teahupoo surfing competition as part of the World Championship Tour.

The men's event was won by Kauli Vasst from France and the women's event by Caroline Marks from USA.

There were 13 events in boxing. Uzbekistan topped the boxing medal tally with five golds, followed by China with three golds. Traditional powerhouse Cuba won only one gold along with Chinese Taipei, Algeria, France, Ireland and Ukraine. USA won only one bronze medal in boxing.

Lin Yu-ting (born 13 December 1995) won the first gold medal for Chinese Taipei in boxing. She defeated Julia Szeremeta of Poland in the final of the women's 57 kg class (featherweight).

Answer: Japan

There were twelve events in freestyle and six events in Greco-Roman. Japan won eight gold medals to top the medal tally in wrestling. Iran, USA and Bulgaria won two gold medals each. Cuba, Georgia, Uzbekistan and Bahrain won one gold medal each.
9. What nation topped the weightlifting events with five gold medals?

Answer: China

There were ten events in weightlifting, five each for men and women. China topped the table with five gold medals, followed by Bulgaria, USA, Georgia, Indonesia and Norway with one each.

French racing cyclist Jaris Daudet finished first ahead of his compatriots Sylvain Andre and Romain Mahieu. This event was the only podium sweep by any nation at the Paris Olympics.
