1. Which of these four pitching greats won the most games in a season?

Answer: Robin Roberts

The others all topped out at winning 27 games in a season. Carlton as a Phillie in 1972, Koufax with the Dodgers in 1966, and Newcombe of the Dodgers in 1956 winning the first Cy Young award. Roberts won 28 games in 1952 with the Phillies, earning him a MVP runner-up to Hank Sauer of the Cubs.
2. Which of these catching greats hit the most career home runs?

Answer: Johnny Bench

Munson hit 113 with the Yankees, Hartnett was a Cub and hit 236, and Yogi hit 358. Bench with the Reds for 17 seasons, hit 389 home runs in his career. The 10-time Gold Glove winner was a Rookie of the Year, won two season MVPs, and a World Series MVP in his great career. He was a hall inductee in 1989.
3. Which of these primary first basemen greats went to the most World Series?

Answer: Gil Hodges

McGwire went to three with the Athletics. Powell of the Orioles saw four World Series. Camilli who played for 12 seasons, mostly with the Dodgers, went to only one in 1941. Hodges went to seven World Series between 1947 and 1959, all with the Dodgers. He came up short by winning only two.
4. Which second baseman stole the most bases in their career?

Answer: Joe Morgan

With Alomar who stole 474, Evers who stole 324, and Lazzeri only 148, Morgan of the Cincinnati Reds steals this one hands down. Joe stole 67 twice in a season and retired with 689. The two-time NL MVP was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1990.
5. Which of these great shortstops was inducted into the Hall of Fame first?

Answer: Joe Tinker

Tinker played all his seasons with the Cubs from 1902-1916. He was part of the infamous 'Tinker to Evers to Chance' doubleplay combination of early baseball. He and the Cubs went to four World Series between 1906 and 1910, winning two against the Tigers. Joe was inducted into the hall in 1946. Rizutto found the hall in 1994. Banks and his 19 seasons as a Cub put him in the hall in 1977. Appling spent his entire career with the White Sox and was inducted in 1964.
6. Baseball has seen a bevy of fantastic third basemen in its history. Which of these third basemen hit the most home runs in a season?

Answer: Mike Schmidt

Schmidt topped out at 48 in 1980 with the Phillies, a small portion of his 548 career home runs. Mathews hit 47 with the 1953 Milwaukee Braves, Robinson of the Orioles had 28 in 1964, and Baker hit 12 in 1913.
7. Which of these four outfield stars struck out the most times a career?

Answer: Reggie Jackson

Mr. October ran away with numerous strikeout records of his own. Not only did he strike out 2597 times in his career, when he was inducted into the hall in 1993, he was still the only player in history to reach the 2000 barrier. Reggie led the league in strikeouts five times, and topped out at 171 in 1968 with the Athletics.
8. Which of these outfield greats never won a Triple Crown award?

Answer: Hank Aaron

Aaron did not come close although he retired with 755 home runs in 1976. Chuck Klein won his in 1933 with the Phillies, Medwick in 1937 with the Cardinals, and Robinson in his first season as an Oriole in 1966.
9. Which of the following great outfielders played for the most seasons?

Answer: Al Kaline

Kaline spent his entire career of 22 seasons with the Tigers from 1953-1974. Mantle of the Yankees spent 18 seasons in the pinstripes, while fellow Yankee DiMaggio played for 13. Kiner, mostly with the Pirates, played for only 10 seasons.
10. Which of the following great managers retired with the most wins?

Answer: Walter Alston

After experiencing one at-bat with the Cardinals in 1936, that was it for Alston's playing career. He took on the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1954, made the move to Los Angeles with the franchise, then retired in 1976 with 2040 wins under his belt. Walt took the Dodgers to seven World Series. The other managers listed never reached the 1600-win mark.
