1. Boston Red Sox great, Ted Williams, retired from baseball with which team?

Answer: Boston Red Sox

Williams played his entire career with the Red Sox for 19 seasons. He retired in 1960 with 521 career home runs, two Triple Crowns, and two American League MVPs.
2. 'Hammerin' Hank Aaron retired with which Major League team?

Answer: Milwaukee Brewers

The Mariners and Blue Jays did not exist when Aaron played. Hank played for 21 of his 23 seasons in a Braves uniform, and passed the immortal Babe Ruth's 714 home run stat in 1974. After the 1974 season, Aaron went to the Brewers, where he hit his final 22 home runs in two Brewer seasons. He retired in 1976 with 755.
3. Which of the following four teams, which Nolan Ryan played for, did he retire from baseball with?

Answer: Texas Rangers

In order, and beginning in 1966, Ryan played for the Mets, Angels, Astros, and finally the Rangers, retiring in 1993 after 27 seasons. Retiring with the number one spot in strikeouts (5714), Nolan never won the Cy Young Award in his career. As an Angel in 1973, he was runner-up Cy to Baltimore Orioles Jim Palmer.

Willie never played for the other teams listed. He played with the Giant franchise, New York and San Francisco, from 1951-1972. In the mid 1972 season, he left for the Mets. He retired as a Met in 1973. 646 home runs came as a Giant, and 14 as a Met.

He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1979. His number three spot in career home runs was taken away by Giant Barry Bonds in 2004, when Bonds hit his 661st.
5. Babe Ruth's final season of baseball was with which team?

The other teams did not exist in his retirement year of 1935. Ruth's great career began in 1914 in a Red Sox uniform. Ruth won two World Series with the Red Sox. In 1920, it was off to the Yankees, where a legend was made. After the 1934 season, Ruth and the Yankees parted company, and he played his final season with the Boston Braves in 1935.

His final six home runs were hit as a Brave. Ruth died in 1948.
6. Tony Gwynn played his entire career of 20 seasons with the same team. Which team jersey did he retire with?

Answer: San Diego Padres

Gwynn's first manager was Dick Williams, the Oakland Athletics World Series manager (1972-73). Gwynn was a 15-time All-Star, and retired in 2001 with a .338 batting average. He hit .394 in 1994.

Young played for these franchises under different mascot names also. It began in 1890 with the Spiders of the National League. From there it was on to St. Louis in 1899, and then the new American League Boston Pilgrims in 1901. In 1909, he moved to the Cleveland Naps (later Indians), then appeared in his final 11 games as a Boston Brave in 1911. Young was passed over in the first Hall of Fame induction in 1936, but joined immortality in the Hall the following year. Named after him, the Cy Young Award was first given to the most outstanding pitcher in baseball, in 1956.

Answer: Cleveland Indians

Robinson never played for the other teams listed. He began his career with 10 seasons in a Reds' uniform, beginning in 1956. His first season with the Orioles in 1966, he won the Triple Crown, American League MVP, and the World Series MVP. It was on to the Dodgers in 1972, the Angels in 1973 and 1974, then his final team, the Cleveland Indians.

He retired in 1976 with 586 home runs. He later became a manager, and was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1982.
9. Satchel Paige appeared in one game in 1965, with which team for his final retirement?

Answer: Kansas City Athletics

Paige only played for six seasons in the Majors, after a historical time in the Negro Leagues. In 1948 at the age of 41, the Cleveland Indians signed him as a rookie in the Majors. He went 6-1 in the season. In 1951, he found himself in a St. Louis Browns (later Baltimore Orioles) uniform.

He retired from the Browns in 1953, then came back to baseball in 1965. He officially retired after this one game with the Athletics. Paige started the game and went three innings. He allowed only one hit, had one strikeout, no walks, and no earned runs.

The Hall opened its doors to Paige in 1971. Paige died in 1982 in Kansas City, Mo.

From 1905-1926, the world saw the 'Georgia Peach' in a Tiger uniform. He played his final two seasons with the Athletics, retiring in 1928. In 1909, he won the Triple Crown Award. He also won the American League MVP in 1911, defeating Ed Walsh, Eddie Collins, Joe Jackson, and Walter Johnson. Cobb, a very unliked player, died in 1961 in Georgia. Only nine people attended his funeral.
