Jack Bauer had told agent Frank Simes that his wife and daughter had been kidnapped and that he had grabbed an agent's gun to create a diversion to stop the assassin who was going to kill Senator Palmer. Simes told Bauer that there was nothing he could do and that he needed to turn Bauer over to the FBI. As the agents were escorting Bauer out of the plant, he escaped by releasing steam on the agents.

Answer: A waitress named Lauren

The waitress, Lauren, drove Jack Bauer to a construction site per his instructions. She retrieved bolt cutters for him and removed his handcuffs. When police arrived at the site, Bauer asked Lauren to go pick up a car that Nina had left for him outside the area. Instead, she told the police about Bauer. He escaped out a back window and got to the car.

Answer: Teri took her place.

The guard came into the room where Teri and Kim Bauer were being held and grabbed Kim. Kim fought with him, and Teri offered to take her place, telling the guard that she wouldn't fight him. Afterwards, Teri told Kim not to say anything to her father about the incident.

Answer: Sherry Palmer told her she would give her information on a government conspiracy.

Maureen Kingsley agreed to sit on the story for a while when Sherry Palmer told her about a possible conspiracy within the government. Sherry Palmer promised to get Kingsley information from her sources and give it to Kingsley. When Mike Novick told David Palmer that Kingsley was holding off on the story, Palmer was suspicious and suspected that his wife was somehow involved.

Per Jack Bauer's instructions, Jamey Farrell's son, Kyle, was being brought into CTU to pressure her into cooperating. Farrell pleaded with Nina Myers and Tony Almeida to not do so, and Almeida told her that they wouldn't do it if she helped them. She asked for a few minutes to think it over, and when Myers and Almeida returned to see her, they found her with her wrists slashed.

Answer: Teri stole a cell phone from one of the guards.

When one of the guards took Teri Bauer out of the room to rape her, she managed to take his cell phone and call CTU. When the guard came back to look for his phone, Teri placed it on a beam and left it on, so that CTU could listen to the conversation. Nina Myers ran a trace and was able to pin down a general area from which the call originated.

Answer: He broke into another car and stole it.

Jack Bauer parked in the lot and hid under a car while the policemen were looking for him (apparently, none of them had the idea to look under the vehicles). He was talking on the phone to Teri Bauer and Nina Myers while he was under the car, and when he had a chance, he broke into a car and drove off.

Milo Pressman discovered that there was a wire for a million dollars transferred to Ira Gaines' account by Cofell that morning. Jack Bauer called Cofell and pretended to be a friend who wanted to meet up with him, but Cofell's secretary told Bauer that he would be leaving town as soon as he finished with a meeting. Nina Myers gave Bauer Cofell's address, and Bauer went to see him.

Answer: Drazen

Mr. Drazen called Ira Gaines and told him that he and his brother were disappointed that Senator David Palmer was still alive and that Jack Bauer was at large. Drazen said that Gaines would lose more than money if the mission didn't succeed. Gaines told him that Jack Bauer was looking for his wife and daughter and would come to his compound so that they could still use Bauer for the assassination attempt.

Answer: Alberta Green

Nina Myers used to be Alberta Green's boss, so Green told Myers that she knew it would be awkward. Green also believed that Myers was hiding information on Jack Bauer, but Myers said that she hadn't talked to Bauer since earlier that morning. Green promised to help Myers if she provided information.
