Unfortunately, on the way there they ran into Sylar, who has lost his powers. Sylar convinces Maya that she can control her deadly abilities alone, without the help of her brother. Later, her brother confronts Sylar, but is stabbed.

Like Peter, Sylar is also able to absorb other people's abilities, but only by killing them. It is unclear whether he died or not at the end of season one. However he returns in season two, without his abilities. He kills Candice Wilmer to try to get her powers, but he fails.

When he reaches New York with Maya and finds Mohinder, he forces Mohinder to give him the cure for his disease. He manages to regain his powers.

Although he's called "The Man in Horn-Rimmed Glasses", Bennett actually wears Browline Ronsir glasses. They were popular during the Cold War and were featured in the movie "JFK". Malcolm X also wore a pair.

"Daniel Lawrence Hawkins" is the name that appears on D. L.'s tombstone. D. L. became a fireman after the revelations at the end of season one, but is shot in a nightclub when he tried to take Niki home.
