Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who created the Dragon Balls?

Answer: Kami

Coming out of the battle against King Piccolo, Goku is taken back to Korin's Tower to be revived while Tien is left behind to be found by Bulma, Yamcha, and Launch. Tien retrieves the Power Pole before reuniting with the others. It eventually returns to Goku in a short time.

Korin, upon learning of the fate of the Dragon Balls and the death of Shenron, reveals that he knows the creator of the balls-- Kami-- and Goku vows to find an audience with the all-important person to see what they can do to fix the problem at hand. According to Korin, he's floating above his tower.
2. Who is the mild-mannered guardian Goku meets and fights above Korin's Tower?

Answer: Mr. Popo

Korin ends up giving Goku a small bell as a symbol of his allowance to meet Kami and, after climbing through storms up the ladder into the clouds, he ends up facing off against a newer, stronger foe, Kami's guardian, Mr. Popo. Mr. Popo is found feeding birds and when Goku approaches he forces him to take 'the test'-- he must fight and win to pass. To Goku's shock, Mr. Popo eats the Kamehameha Wave.

Instead of killing Goku, Mr. Popo encourages the boy to learn from him, honing his skills (as usual) to overcome his obstacles and become stronger. Amongst the lessons is to see without his eyes and be faster than lightning. Goku ends up being let in early for his kind heart and fast learning.
3. Shenron, the Eternal Dragon, is revived. Does Goku make the wish to bring back his friends?

Answer: No

Kami appears...to be King Piccolo. As he emerges he tells Goku that they were once one in the same, but he separated his impure desires from his body. Kami stayed a guardian, but Piccolo started to spread disorder. Kami makes a request to Goku to remain and train under him, but before that, Goku wants all of his friends back. Kami decides to resurrect Shenron and, in doing so, remakes the Dragon Balls, literally regluing the dragon together and breathing life into the creature as a stone figurine. Piccolo, meanwhile, has returned as a child and Goku must battle him at the next World Martial Arts Tournament, so it's imperative that he stay; he will be the only person capable of defeating Piccolo (which, as he doesn't know, will also kill Kami).

Bulma, Yamcha, and the others make the wish to bring back Chiaotzu, Master Roshi, and Krillin...and all of the other people killed by Piccolo. Shortly after, everyone's training commences.
4. For how long is Goku meant to train under Kami?

Answer: Three years

Goku begins his three years of training with Kami and Mr. Popo and, as he learns he discovers that he needs to find his zen. He first begins by learning to be as still as a stone, trusting that your eyes can't see everything. He's then sent down to Earth several times, occasionally back in time, to learn how to be swifter than he could've ever been and to learn how to use his spirit energy to improve his standing in battle.

At one point, Goku faces off against an exact double of himself-- perhaps his toughest foe thus far-- and realizes how far he needs to go to succeed against the new Piccolo.
5. En route to Korin's Tower, Tien, Yamcha, Krillin, and Chiaotzu end up saving a village from which of these?

Answer: Volcano

Tien Shinhan and the others hope for Goku's safety training with Kami but also vow to train for the next World Martial Arts Tournament to beat him. To do this, they figure that they can head to Korin's Tower to train just as Goku did, under one of the greatest martial arts masters to be found. En route to their mystery destination, the foursome ends up encountering a village positioned under an active volcano and, using their strength and powers, they're able to save the lot of them. Over the course of the next three years, their training only escalates further.
6. Which of these match-ups never appeared during this World Martial Arts Tournament?

Answer: Chiaotzu vs. Master Shen

After three years, everyone reunites at the World Martial Arts Tournament, finding themselves shocked at how much everyone has changed. The day after signing up, Goku finally catches sight of his target, Piccolo Jr., in the preliminaries. He also ends up running into a woman who seems severely angered by his lack of recognition towards her. When they face off together in the ring, she quickly loses to him in the fight, but reveals herself to be none other than Chi-Chi. After their battle, they end up engaged.
When the preliminaries begin, Chiaotzu is actually knocked out early by a cyborg version of Mercenary Tao. Tien Shinhan ends up facing off against him later on in the bracket, defeating him, but not before revealing Tao and the Crane Hermit's true feelings (brought about when Tao disqualifies himself in an attempt to kill his former student with a knife and a Super Dodon Ray).
The fight with Krillin and Piccolo Jr (known only as Junior in the tournament) ends with the latter's victory.
7. Heading into battle in the semi-finals, Yamcha is matched up against 'Hero', a contender who is actually who of the following in disguise?

Answer: Kami

Although Yamcha and the others are apprehensive about 'Hero' when he heads into the ring, Goku is aware that something is amiss. It isn't until Yamcha is matched up against him in the ring that his true powers are unleashed. Although he looks like a bumbling nerd, his bumbling around actually ends up working to his advantage since Yamcha is accused of making circumstantial mistakes, humiliating himself.

Hero reveals his true power shortly after giving up the theatrics. Yamcha ends up revealing his proficiency with a new attack, the Spirit Ball, but still loses the battle (even though the two are perfectly amicable by the end). Goku discovers that Kami is behind the mask of Hero. Goku defeats Tien Shinhan in his semi-final match (revealing that he's been wearing weighted clothing and exposing Tien's Quadruplication technique).

When Kami (as Hero) faces off against his other half, Piccolo Jr., the latter wins, trapping Kami in the Denshi Jar he planned to use, intending to get his revenge against Goku once and for all.
8. Who wins the tournament once and for all?

Answer: Goku

The final battle between Piccolo Jr. and Goku finally arrives and it is, perhaps, the culmination of all of Goku's training thus far. The battle begins with ups and downs for both fighters, but it isn't long before both harness their powers to engage in intense combat. Piccolo Jr. ends up rising into the sky and firing a blast that nearly wipes out the area (certainly destroying the mountains outside the city) and Goku responds using a devastating Super Kamehameha. Piccolo grows inside until Goku, seizing the opportunity, jumps into his mouth and takes Kami's Denshi Jar back, allowing him to be freed. Piccolo regrows his limbs at one point, levels the island around the tournament hall, and nearly ends the battle, essentially defeating Goku, but at the last moment Goku pulls through to knock his opponent out of the ring. With Sensu Beans, Goku brings both of them back to suitable health (to protect Kami). Finally, Goku is declared the winner of the tournament; Piccolo Jr., of course, vows his revenge.
9. When the Ox-King's castle sets ablaze, which of these is required to put the fires out?

Answer: A fan

Goku and Chi-Chi return to the Ox-King's Kingdom to celebrate their engagement and receive the Ox-King's approval of their upcoming marriage. Fortunately, he does. When he unveils Chi-Chi's bridal gown, however, something bad and mysterious happens-- the whole castle sets ablaze due to the eruption of the volcano below, trapping the Ox-King inside with the garment. What they discover, heading out to get help, is that they need a Bansho Fan to put out the flames and save the Ox-King and his kingdom (and, yes, the dress).

He and Chi-Chi head out for help, first seeking Fortuneteller Baba, ultimately finding that they need to head east to begin a short adventure. They find the fan, luckily, but need different components to make it work...and then some.
10. The final episode of "Dragon Ball" ends with which of these?

Answer: A wedding

As time begins to run out to save the Ox-King, the straits become more and more dire for Goku and Chi-Chi. After encountering Pilaf and his cronies once again, Goku needs to head into the Dark World to visit a Magical Furnace and get the Bansho Fan to work properly.

When he arrives, however, he's forced to fight a spirit named Amin who seems to be working to prevent spirits from being denied an afterlife. When they work together, all turns out well; they put out the flames around the Ox-King's castle, save Chi-Chi's father and wedding dress, and are able to have their wedding. With Goku and Chi-Chi wed, the adventures can only continue.
