Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Andy Kindler
Answer: Andy
"Andy" appeared twenty-seven times on the show - and never had a last name. He was a fellow sportswriter with Ray, and played in several really funny episodes!
2. Fred Willard
Answer: Hank MacDougall
Fred Willard, a popular character actor who played many roles in films and television through the years, was an excellent addition to the cast as Amy MacDougall's conservative father-- making him Robert's father-in-law. The interactions between the MacDougall and Barone families were definitely memorable. He was in thirteen episodes, and was nominated for an Emmy for his work.
3. Georgia Engel
Answer: Pat MacDougall
Georgia played Amy's mother, Hank's wife, and Robert's mother-in-law. The well-known actress (including years on The Mary Tyler Moore Show) with the high voice was awesome in her role. She was in thirteen episodes of "Everybody Loves Raymond", and was nominated for an Emmy for her work.
4. Katherine Helmond
Answer: Lois Whelan
Katherine was a well-known actress, having played in many roles-- including Angela's mother in the well-known sitcom, "Who's the Boss". She played Debra's mother in this show, which made her Ray's mother-in-law. She was in fourteen episodes of "Everybody Loves Raymond", and was nominated for an Emmy for her work.
5. Robert Culp
Answer: Warren Whelan
A well-known and talented actor who appeared in MANY films and television shows through the years (including "I Spy" with Bill Cosby), he was an excellent addition to the cast, playing Debra's father, and Ray's father-in-law. He appeared eleven times in "Everybody Loves Raymond".
6. Jon Manfrellotti
Answer: Claude Gianni
I was surprised to learn that "Gianni" was his character's LAST name, he was always known as just Gianni on the show. He appeared twenty-four times on the show - including one early episode where he was an unnamed cable guy who appears during a rain storm, and busts Frank for stealing cable from Ray and Debra's house.
7. Tom McGowan
Answer: Bernie Gruenfelder
Tom appeared as Bernie, one of Ray's best friends throughout the show. He was married to Linda, and their marriage was compared to Ray and Debra's a few times. He appeared seventeen times as Bernie on the show.
8. Maggie Wheeler
Answer: Linda Gruenfelder
Maggie appeared on the show as Bernie's wife. She is probably best known for playing "Janice," on "Friends" as Chandler's obnoxious girlfriend who says, "OH MY GAWD" all the time! She appeared on "Everybody Loves Raymond" eleven times as Linda.
9. Chris Elliott
Answer: Peter MacDougall
Chris, a well-known comedian and actor, stepped in and replaced Paul Ruebens as Amy's quirky and annoying brother. The show changed the name from "Russell" to Peter when Chris took over the role. His relationship with Ray and Robert provided plenty of laughs, and even some heart-tugging moments. He appeared ten times as Peter.
10. Alexandra Meneses
Answer: Stefania Fogagnolo
Alex played the beautiful Italian woman that Robert falls head over heels in love with while vacationing in Italy. However, after Amy finds out, she breaks up with him - again! But when Robert's family brings Stefania (and her scary father, David Proval as Marco) to visit, Robert decides Stefania is just plain annoying and doesn't want to date her. Alex appeared six times as Stefania on the show.
11. Fred Stoller
Answer: Cousin Gerard
Fred plays Ray's cousin Gerard in eight episodes of "Everybody Loves Raymond". A well-known comic, Fred played a similar character on "Seinfeld" for those who recognize him. I don't believe we ever learned his last name, but we know he's Marie's sister's son.
12. Paul Ruebens
Answer: Russell MacDougall
Ruebens plays the part of Amy's brother, Russell, with a bit of an edge. Although he only appeared in one episode, he really does a great job of portraying a comic bookstore owner who judges everyone by his own standards! He is replaced by Chris Elliott after this episode, and his name is changed to Peter.
13. Jason Kravits
Answer: Sam Gilula
Jason only appeared in one episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond" - but he is unforgettable as a former co-worker of Frank's who idolizes the older man--much to the consternation of Ray and Robert, and he makes even Marie believe he might be Frank's son, or something else, because of Frank's sudden friendly demeanor with the younger man.
14. Brian Posehn
Answer: Walter and/or Warren
Brian, a well-known character actor is instantly recognizable for playing unusual roles, was in two episodes of "Everybody Loves Raymond", the first as Warren, a former "geeky" classmate of Ray's from high school; and secondly, as Walter, a friend who wants Ray to invest in a go-cart business.
15. Bob Odenkirk
Answer: Scott Preman
Bob is a well-known actor, who guest starred twice on "Everybody Loves Raymond". He played Scott two times, once at Ray's high school reunion, and once as a friend who wants Ray to buy into his go-cart business. He played both these episodes with Brian Posehn as his friend. I wish they had been in more episodes-- they were both so good.
