Durka abandoned the Zelbinion when the Nebari attacked, leaving his crew to die. Aeryn mentions learning of his legendary achievements like the liberation of Mintaka Three and the quelling of the Cenobian rebellion. Rygel rolls a bomb toward Durka, almost killing Durka and John. It is just after this that we get a hint that Durka hasn't been completely mind-cleansed by the Nebari when he chokes Rygel.

John tells Chiana that he has a plan, and that she is the bait. John doesn't call her Pip until "Through the Looking Glass". He tells her he thought she was supposed to be Junior Miss Tough Chick of the Universe in "Through the Looking Glass" when she tries to bail on them at the first sign of trouble.

In "Exodus from Genesis," when told that a Marauder can only go hetch 7, John says, "Hetch 7? Things a Hyundai. Why don't we stop playing hide and seek and just smoke 'em?" When Moya's crew discover that Durka is no longer the peaceful brain-washed person that came aboard, John said, "Nebari mental cleansing doesn't get the tough stains out," which has been used in laundry detergent commercials. John refers to Silas as Elvis because of his sideburns, and when talking about Durka, he says, "Nobody knows what a hundred years of eating Happy Meals has done to him."

Chiana asks John if he has a plan, and then says, "Why do I always get stuck with the greebols who don't have a plan?" Gleebos refers to someone not being the brightest. Snurcher is slang for stealing, frelnik is something that doesn't smell very good apparently, and tralk is a woman with a certain reputation.

John leaves Durka stranded in a damaged Nebari ship for the Nebari to find... or not. Durka appears later in season two, where he finally meets his end.
