Xia Zi Wei was the daughter of Emperor Qianlong and a young intelliegent woman that he met on his trip outside the palace. Soon after Emperor Qianlong met Xia Yu He and spent many lovely days with her, he was called away by his mother, the Dowager Empress.

The Emperor had promised Yu He that he would come back for her, but as the years went by, he was so busy running the country (and there was also a war going on) that the Emperor forgot about Xia Yu He. About one year after he'd left, Xia Yu He gave birth to Emperor Qianlong's and her only daughter, Xia Zi Wei. Er Kang was Zi Wei's love, Er Tai was her future brother-in-law and Yong Qi was Zi Wei's half-brother.

Zi Wei and Er Kang first met during the Emperor's parade through the town, announcing that Xiao Yan Zi was his lost daughter. Thinking Zi Wei was a danger to the Emperor and his new "princess" for she had tried to run after Xiao Yan Zi's carriage, the imperial guards had beaten her up with their swordcases until Er Kang came to her rescue.

When Zi Wei fainted on the street after reciting the emperor's poem, Er Kang took her to his house and there, they fell in love with each other. Er Tai was Zi Wei's future brother-in-law and Meng Dan and Liu Qing were her and Er Kang's close friends.

After arriving in Beijing, Zi Wei met Xiao Yan Zi while helping her out of a little problem. The two soon became good friends and then sworn sisters. Han Xiang was a character from the 2nd season and was also a good friend of Zi Wei. Liu Hong was also a close friend and Zi Wei met her through Xiao Yan Zi's introduction. Jin Suo was Zi Wei's close servant and friend.

She traveled with Zi Wei to Beijing, hoping to find her mistress's long lost father.

Ling Fie was one of Emperor Qialong's wives, his favorite to be exact. Sai Ya was a Tibettan Princess, wife of Fu Er Tai, one of the Emperor's favorites. Han Xiang was one of Qianlong's wives as well but she didn't appear until season two.

Yong Qi was the fifth prince, the person who accidentally shot Xiao Yan Zi during the Royal Hunt. At first, Xiao Yan Zi only thought of him as a brother, but when she found out he has a crush on her, she began to like him as well and they ended up a couple. Er Kang was Zi Wei's lover, so technically he was kind of like Xiao Yan Zi's brother-in-law. Er Tai was Er Kang's brother and Sai Ya's, the Princess of Tibet, husband.

He too had a crush on Xiao Yan Zi in the beginning. Meng Dan was a friend that didn't appear until the second season.

When Xiao Yan Zi was found by the Royal Hunting Party, she was accidentally injuried by Wu Ar Ge. Emperor thought she was his long lost daughter because of the items that she was carrying for Zi Wei. The cheery and energetic Xiao Yan Zi was played by Vicky Zhao. Ruby Lin played the roll of Xiao Yan Zi's sworn sister, Xia Zi Wei. Juan Zi was the actress who starred in the series as one of the emperor's beloved wives, Ling Fei. Fan Bing-Bing co-starred with Vicky and Ruby in the series as Zi Wei close friend and servant, Jin Suo.

The Empress, in this season, tried her hardest to cause trouble for Zi Wei, Xiao Yan Zi, Er Kang, Yong Qi, and Jin Suo. She and her nanny, Rong Mo Mo, thought up of many bad troubles to throw at the teens. Jin Suo was one of the many good people in this season, she was Zi Wei's trusted friend and servant. Ling Fei was a wife of the Emperor and she acted like a mom to both Zi Wei and Xiao Yan Zi. Xiao Yan Zi was one of the main charaters, a good character of course.

Zi Wei was the long lost daughter of the Emperor and her mission to find her father started the whole season. She was later titled Ming Zhu GeGe. The cheerful Xiao Yan Zi was "Huan Zhu GeGe" otherwise the title of the series. Her appearance in the season and series helped made the movie funny and energetic. Er Kang was the eldest son of an official and he was the one who came up with the many great plans in the season/series.

He was one of those that helped make their problems dissolved. Even though, Jin Suo, Zi Wei's loyal friend and servant, appeared quite frequently in the series, she however, was not one of the main and important characters.
