Scar Trivia Quiz

This quiz is dedicated to one of my favourite 'Fullmetal Alchemist' characters: Scar. This quiz will only ask questions based off the anime, not the manga. It shouldn't be too hard if you've watched the anime - series and movie.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where is the scar on Scar's body which gives rise to his name?

Answer: His Face

A large 'X' shaped scar runs across his forehead; each arm at the bottom of the X runs over an eye.
2. Scar acquired his scar back in the Ishbal War when he was fleeing across the desert with his people. Which alchemist gave Scar his scar?

Answer: The Crimson Alchemist

Zolf J. Kimbley, the Crimson Alchemist, was a State Alchemist during the Ishbal War when he and Scar met. Kimbley however, was later imprisoned as it was discovered he was killing his own allies for fun.

Kimbley uses alchemy through the two alchemic circles tattooed on the palms of his hands. By using these circles he can create a 'human bomb' by utilising the sulphur in a person to make an explosive. It can also be done with any object containing sulphur.
3. Scar's left arm originally belonged to his brother.

Answer: False

It was actually his right arm that belonged to his brother. Kimbley also blew this arm off Scar when they first crossed paths, and Scar's brother attached his own arm to Scar via alchemy before he died.
4. Scar's arm is capable of using alchemy, but it is not able to use alchemy completely. According to Alex Louis Armstrong, at what step of alchemy is Scar stopping after?

Answer: Decomposing

According to Armstrong, there are three steps in the alchemic process: understanding, decomposing and rearranging.

Scar's arm is capable of decomposing anything, so long as he understands what it is made of. This was demonstrated when he could not destroy Edward's arm, since he did not know that it was automail at the time.

Scar's brother originally used his right arm for decomposition and his left for rearrangement.
5. One of the seven Homunculi looks like a person Scar once knew; this is because they are the failed human transmutation of that person. Which Homunculus is this?

Answer: Lust

Lust was originally an Ishbalan woman who was loved by both Scar and his brother. It was her death that originally made Scar's brother study alchemy in order to bring her back. He failed the transmutation and Lust was created.
6. It was ultimately revealed exactly what Scar's arm truly was; it was an incomplete Philosopher's Stone.

Answer: True

Scar's brother originally turned himself into a Philosopher's Stone during the Ishbal War, and the Grand Arcanum (Ishbalan alchemy) tattoos covered his whole body.

He gave Scar his arm, along with the incomplete Stone, after Kimbley blew Scar's arm off.
7. Scar began drawing a large transmutation circle through an entire city; it was an array that would make the Philosopher's Stone. In which city did Scar make this array?

Answer: Lior

Due to an uprising in Lior, the State Military was planning to send in forces in order to suppress this. Scar planned to lure in the Military, while the people of Lior escaped underground, and activate the Philosopher's Stone circle in order to sacrifice the soldiers' souls for the Stone.
8. Scar managed to save one person's life before he died by donating his arm, much in the same way that he originally received the arm from his brother. Who did Scar save?

Answer: Alphonse Elric

Kimbley had activated a gradual alchemic process on Alphonse's armour, which would ultimately cause him to explode. By donating his arm, and hence making Al the incomplete Philosopher's Stone, Scar was able to stop the degradation of Al's armour once the array to complete the Stone was activated.
9. What was the last thing Scar did with his life?

Answer: Activated a Transmutation Circle

Scar fell onto a line of the Philosopher's Stone transmutation circle, which activated it. Once this happened, all the people within Lior were instantly killed - their souls going to make the Philosopher's Stone, which then resided in Al.
10. In 'Conqueror of Shamballa' Scar's parallel self was seen at the very end driving a car with gypsies in the back. Whose parallel self was in the front seat beside Scar?

Answer: Lust

The pair was driving the car that Edward and Alphonse get onto at the very end of the movie as they set off on their next adventure. Thanks for playing.
