Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The effects of the arrival of the first slave ships in the early American colonies.

Answer: The 1619 Project

"The 1619 Project" premiered on Hulu as a six-part docuseries. It is based on an anthology of the same name that was published in the "New York Times" magazine in 2019. The 2019 date is significant as it marked the 400 year anniversary that enslaved Africans first came to the American continents.

In the series it is asserted that the national origin story of the United States began in 1619 when the first ships transporting slaves arrived.
2. Matthew Macfadyen portrays a British politician that fakes his own death.

Answer: Stonehouse

John Stonehouse was a British Labour politician who worked as Postmaster General under Harold Wilson. As the tv series depicts, Stonehouse faked his death while he was in Miami, FL leading people to believe that he had drowned. Stonehouse made it to Australia but he was eventually extradited back to the UK to be indicted on charges of espionage, theft and fraud.
3. Jason Momoa helps motivate mountaineers in a competition.

Answer: The Climb

"The Climb" was released on HBO Max and acclaimed actor Jason Momoa was both an executive producer and host/narrator. In the show amateur mountain climbers compete for a cash prize in difficult physical and mental climbs across Spain.
4. A teenager named Leia Forman spends the summer with her grandparents.

Answer: That '90s Show

Released on Netflix, "That '90s Show" is the sequel to "That '70s Show" which ran eight seasons from 1998 to 2006. The first season of "That '90s Show" takes place in 1995 in Point Place, Wisconsin. Callie Haverda stars as Leia who is adventurous and not surprisingly doesn't always follow the rules set forth by her grandparents, Red and Kitty.
5. Episodes open in a courtroom in which plaintiffs are informed of their crimes.

Answer: Accused

"Accused" premiered on the Fox network and it is based on a British show of the same name that ran two seasons from 2010 to 2012. The episodes of season one of "Accused" are named after the plaintiff as in episode one which is titled "Scott's Story". It is odd that the accused is unaware of their crime until the viewer is informed of the crime from the defendant's viewpoint.
6. A casino worker named Charlie has an innate ability to know when people are lying.

Answer: Poker Face

"Poker Face" premiered on the streaming service Peacock and it stars Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale. Charlie has to go on the run from the pit boss at her casino and on her journey she helps solve crimes with her unique ability to know when people are lying.
7. A master thief known as Leo Pap attempts a $7 billion heist.

Answer: Kaleidoscope

"Kaleidoscope" was released on Netflix and it had a unique eight episode format that could be watched in any order. In the show Leo Pap (played by Giancarlo Esposito) and his crew try to rob the vault of a security firm called SLS. Of course nothing goes as planned and they have to improvise.
8. Joel and Ellie live in an apocalyptic world after a fungal infection causes a global pandemic.

Answer: The Last of Us

"The Last of Us" was released on HBO and it is based on an acclaimed video game of the same name released in 2013. The main characters of Joel and Ellie are played by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. In the show Joel and Ellie travel out west to reconnect Joel with one of his family members and to try and help with the effort to develop a vaccine.
9. A therapist is brutally honest with his patients.

Answer: Shrinking

The first season of "Shrinking" starred Jason Segal as Jimmy Laird whose wife has recently died in a car accident. Jimmy has started dealing with his grief by telling people exactly how he feels. Sometimes this directness and honesty is appreciated by others but oftentimes it comes off as offensive.
10. A nuerosurgeon becomes the heiress of a family with special powers.

Answer: Mayfair Witches

"Mayfair Witches" was released on AMC and it is based on the trilogy of novels "Lives of the Mayfair Witches" by Anne Rice. In the show Dr. Rowan Fielding (played by Alexandra Daddario) develops supernatural powers after her mother dies. Rowan encounters an entity known as the Lasher that has been bound to the Mayfair Witches for hundreds of years.
