Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these people was the the first to learn that Vincent could read after his accident?

Answer: Amy

Amy found a book tucked under his covers at the hospital. He admitted he'd been able to read for about a week. Vincent had been injured during the explosion in the season one finale.
2. Bruce was happy when Amy had him transferred back into her court.

Answer: False

When she pressed him about his feelings, Bruce finally admitted to her that he didn't like the fact that no one had bothered to ask him what he wanted. His hostility (as usual, just below the surface) remained for a couple of episodes before Amy said he needed to "bury the hatchet" or request to be transferred again.
3. Though initially reluctant to leave Ned, whom does Gillian allow to babysit for him on her wedding anniversary?

Answer: Donna

Evie is Ned's birth-mother, and comes back into the picture later in the season. Donna volunteered to babysit for Ned, as she needed the practice for her own baby. She did a very good job, but Ned fussed most of the time anyway. I felt like it must have been because he did not know Donna very well, and felt her tension. Gillian and Peter were celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary.
4. Which high-school friend (and now a soccer coach) does Amy encounter when she takes Lauren to soccer practice?

Answer: Lolly

Colleen Flynn played Lolly Wetzel for several episodes in season 2. Amy did not care for Lolly's know it all husband Nick, played by Ted Marcoux.
5. Maxine reconnects with an estranged friend in season 2, after the lady's husband dies. What was this lady's name?

Answer: Vivian

Maxine and Vivian had not spoken in 15 years. The dispute erupted after Vivian's husband asked that Mr. Gray pay for the insurance on a boat that the two families shared. When Maxine does reach out to her, Vivian is extremely cold and critical of the entire Gray family. It isn't until the end of the episode, when Ned thaws Vivian's heart and Maxine decides to give her one last chance to be friends again.
Elizabeth Franz played Vivian Galloway in the episode "Convictions". She also played Roseanne Conner's boss Marsha in 1990 on the comedy "Roseanne".
6. Amy dated a younger man in season two. Rob was around 25 years old, and had his niece apply for the job as Lauren's babysitter. What was the occupation of this character, played by "Smallville's" Tom Welling?

Answer: karate sensei

Amy met Rob because he was Lauren's karate sensei. She never felt easy about their age difference, and in "The Claw Is Our Master" she has sex with him once and then decides to give attorney Tom Gillette another chance. Previously she'd felt there was a conflict of interest between her and Tom, as he was a child advocate attorney in her precinct.

When he decides to step down and go into an internet business with his brother, she agrees to go out with him again. Rob is clearly taken aback when he discovers this, but tells Amy that he understands why it happened the way it did. Tom dumps Amy for his ex-wife soo afterward.
7. Whose idea was Adoption Day?

Answer: Amy

Judge Faraday did take all of the credit for the event, but it was all Amy's idea. She originally asked for one Saturday a month for everyone in the court system to volunteer and have 200 adoptions finalized on that day. She changed her mind when Faraday waivered at the idea and decided one Saturday every 3 months would work as well.

When the idea was passed, Faraday took the credit, since he was up for re-election. Peter and Gillian adopted Ned on the first Adoption Day event. Evie reappeared at this time, and coerced Amy into revealing that Ned's biological father could still have rights to him.
8. Lolly became angry with Amy when she revealed that Lolly's husband Nick had made a very obvious pass at her in the episode "8 1/2 Narrow".

Answer: False

Not only did Lolly not become angry, but she did not appear surprised at all, made excuses for it, and told Amy she'd get used to Nick's flirtatious behaviors. Amy told Lolly she didn't want to get used to it and told her she realized Lolly had heard this about Nick before, from other women.
9. Amy decided that it was time to get the household a new pet. She, Lauren, and Vincent went to the animal shelter and decided that _____ would be their new pet.

Answer: Percy

In "The Claw is Our Master" Amy finds becoming a pet owner a little more involved than she expected. Kellie Waymire played Vickie Spencer, the pet adoption counselor who made Amy prove Percy would be going to a stable and permanent home. Percy already had the name when they met him in the animal shelter.
10. Ned's Christening is scheduled in the episode "The Beginning, the End, and the Murky Middle". Who reads the poem "On Children" by Kahlil Gibran during the ceremony?

Answer: Amy

The words of this poem are particularly hard for Amy to speak. Evie has returned with Ned's biological father and the words ring truer than the family can bear. Here is an excerpt of that poem,
"Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams."
11. Which fact is NOT revealed in the episode "One For the Road", where Gillian and Peter give Ned back to Evie and Rondell?

Answer: Maxine is a cigarette smoker

After handing baby Ned over to Evie and Rondell, Gillian focuses on Peter's drinking to divert her grief. She believes he is an alcoholic, as he has been having a drink or two most nights for several years. Amy finds out that her father, Edward Gray, was also a drinker and Maxine fought with him at times. Maxine refuses to use the terms drunk or alcoholic to describe her husband or her son. Maxine's tobacco use is common knowledge at this point, from as far back as early in season one.
12. When Carole explains to Vincent that she is going to put $40,000 in cash down for a $120,000 home, how much more money did she have in savings in addition to that?

Answer: $40,000

This was in "The Treachery of Compromise", episode 15 of season two. Vincent feels a bit insecure upon hearing this news, as he has saved no money since college. Later, Amy asks him if he has any money left from when their father died. She explains each of them received $10,000 from Edward when he died, but Vincent knew nothing at all about it.

He goes straight to Peter and finds out that Peter invested it for him, and despite Vincent's initial anger he allows Peter to continue to manage his finances.

The $10,000 had become $40,000 over the last 11 years and Peter just wanted Vincent to have a nest egg.
13. In episode 18, "Everybody Falls Down", we find out that Bruce's mother is thinking of moving where?

Answer: Nevada

She went on a trip to Las Vegas and decided she wanted to live there permanently. His sister, Winnie, is totally against it. But, Bruce feels like his mother deserves to be happy, not matter how much he feels he needs her in Connecticut.
14. Who were the guardians of Eric Black in "The Unforgiven", episode 18 of season two?

Answer: Allen and Irene Kroft

Scott Allen Campbell and Cynthia Gibb played Eric's foster family when we meet him in this episode. Blake Bashoff, who plays Eric, has also guest starred on "Law and Order", "Charmed", and "One Tree Hill".
The foster family decide they can no longer handle Eric's "needs" when Maxine explains Eric may be homosexual. Maxine is highly disappointed in the Krofts and later tells Eric that if she cannot find him a good foster family he can come live with her.
15. I am Vincent's girlfriend in season two. My parents are not what I consider normal, so I am sometimes jealous of his family. I finally had a break in my tough exterior when Donna agreed to support Vincent while he wrote his second book. I am Carole _____.

Answer: Tobey

Sara Mornell played Carole in season two and three. She was also on episode(s) of "Party of Five", "Becker", and "Six Feet Under".
