Answer: Because Rantaro is dead

Rantaro's lab is revealed to be next to Shuichi's. However, Monokuma forbids anyone from entering it on account of Rantaro's death in the first chapter. The students are disappointed because Rantaro's Ultimate Talent is still a mystery and they were hoping his lab would provide a clue toward his true identity.

Monokuma explains the labs will only remain open so as long as a student is alive. This seems to be a haphazardly enforced rule as several other deceased students' labs could be entered after their deaths.

Answer: Kokichi

After Gonta's execution, Kokichi went on a bit of trip and started acting even more erratically and believed he was controlling everything. The six other students decide they have no choice but to confront Monokuma and end the Killing Game, even if it costs them their lives. They try to ambush Monokuma in the gym, only to meet Kokichi there.

Kokichi insists he also wants to end the Killing Game but no one believes him. He gives the rest of the group weapons that Miu made to aid their battle. These weapons include electrohammers and electrobombs which can disrupt mechanical devices and do substantial damage.

Instead of battling Monokuma, however, the students decide it might be better to use these weapons to help them through the Death Road of Despair which was impossible for them in the first chapter. Kokichi remains behind, however, leaving the other six to complete it themselves.

Answer: The world has been destroyed

After the students cross the Death Road of Despair, they believe they found the escape route. However, when they open the door, the world outside is completely unlivable. Kokichi arrives to explain what happened. The world was destroyed by both the meteors and the virus that were mentioned in Kirumi's video back in the second chapter.

As Ultimate Students, they were saved and sent into outer space to start a new colony. Kokichi claims they are the only sixteen people left (before correcting himself and saying they are the only seven people left) alive in the world.

Kokichi told his classmates that he was the mastermind who brought Monokuma onboard their spaceship which started the Killing Game. The students are skeptical of this until the flashback light tells them that Kokichi is a Remnant of Despair, followers of Junko Enomisha who carried on her mission of spreading despair into the world.

Previously, the flashback lights gave the students vague memories including a group funeral for them and them partaking in something called the Ultimate Hunt.

Answer: Crossbow

Kokichi kidnaps Kaito and holds him hostage in the bathroom of the exisal hangar. At some point during the day, Kaito asked Himiko to go to Maki's lab and bring him a crossbow, which she did. This threw early suspicion on Himiko as she never mentioned this until Keebo called her out on it.

However, Himiko did not have the knowledge to build the crossbow which later proved she didn't fire it.

Answer: Maki

Maki was determined to save Kaito from Kokichi's clutches. She used her electrohammer to disable and seize control of an exisal which she was then able to use to enter the main part of the hangar. She shot Kokichi with a poisoned arrow from her own crossbow and then attempted to shoot him again.

However, Kaito stepped in the way and Maki shot him by mistake. She ran for the only antidote which Kokichi stole from Kaito. However, Maki left the scene before the action concluded.

Answer: Kokichi

A "body" is discovered apparently dead by being pulverized by a hydraulic press. It is not clear who of Kokichi or Kaito is the victim and it is assumed the other is the perpetrator. Kaito's clothes were found hanging out of the press and security footage shows the press landing on Kaito. However, Shuichi is suspicious of this.

During the trial, the living person of Kaito or Kokichi shielded their identity in an exisal. Initially, it seems Kokichi killed Kaito but Shuichi determines the opposite happened.

Answer: To end the Killing Game

Kokichi legitimately wanted to end the Killing Game but no one believed him. He concocted a plan to commit a murder that Monokuma didn't even know the solution to. This would have thrown the trial into chaos with Monokuma being unable to declare a verdict as he would not have known what actually happened.

However, Maki nearly ruined everything when she shot Kaito and Kokichi with the poisoned arrow. Kokichi stole the antidote, but he gave it to the reluctant Kaito. Kaito did not want to go along with Kokichi's plan but Kokichi forced his hand. Kaito laid in the hydraulic press and Kokichi sent it down. However, they manipulated the footage so it looked like Kaito was crushed. In reality, the two had switched places and disabled the press's safety feature with an electrobomb. Kaito agreed to this plan because he wanted to end the Killing Game as well but also Kokichi was dying anyway because of the poisoned arrow. If Kaito did not go along with the plan, Maki would have been the one blackened at the class trial.

Answer: It fails

Kaito receives the Blast Off! Second Ignition execution. However, Kaito actually succumbs to the virus that was slowly weakening him throughout the game. He dies midexecution which causes the rocket to spiral out of control and fail. Before he dies, Kaito smiles having finally achieved his dream of traveling to outer space.

Answer: Part of his hair falls off

Kaito's malfunctioning rocket crashes down to the school and lands in the courtroom. The impact from the crash knocks part of Keebo's hair off of his head. This has massive implication for the next chapter as this "injury" seems to cause Keebo to go haywire.
