"Un oiseau" is a bird. "Un canard" is a duck. "Un papillon" is a butterfly. "Un vautour" is a vulture. "La fée clochette" is Tinkerbell from "Peter Pan". "Un ange" is an angel. "Une guêpe" is a wasp. "Une hirondelle" is a swallow. "Pégase" is of course, Pegasus. "Une cigale" is a cicada and in the South of France, they make joyful 'music' in the heat. "Un avion" is an airplane. "Un poulet" is a chicken. "Une sauterelle" is a grasshopper. "Une libellule" is a dragonfly. "Un cygne" is a swan. "Un corbeau" is a crow. "Une chauve souris" is a bat and that is literally a bald mouse. "Une caille" is a quail. In some areas of France this is used as a term of affection.

The incorrect answers were as follows: "Un escargot" is of course a snail. "Un rideau" is a curtain. "Un tuyau" is a pipe but is also used for a hose as in a garden hose, and as a 'tip' in terms of advice. "Une saucisse" is a sausage. If you can say 'une saucisse de strasbourg' you're ahead of the game. "Un radeau" is a raft. "Une pomme" is an apple. "Un mouton" is a sheep. "Un cochon" is a pig. And in this quiz they don't fly. "Une cigare" is a cigar and "un raton laveur" is a raccoon which is literally a big rat who washes things in French. "Un bateau mouche" for anyone who has visited Paris is a tourist boat.
