1. What is the question asked at the beginning of the first episode, that also shares it's name with the name of the episode?

Answer: Why are we here?

This question was asked by Simmons to Grif, talking about the location of the battle grounds. Grif, however, thought that he was talking about why man was made and if there was really a God.

It's not revealed in the first episode who the characters are. Mainly in episode two we will get to know the characters.

Sarge had renamed their new vehicle 'The Warthog' for its hooks at the front, which he says look like tusks. Griff insisted that it looked like a Puma, which Sarge believed was not a real animal. Near the end of the episode, Sarge taunted Griff by suggesting names of other mythical creatures. The first three he suggested were Bigfoot, Unicorn, and Sasquatch. Simmons joined in suggesting Leprechaun, followed by Sarge with Phoenix and El Chupacabra (which Sarge pronounced "Chupathingy").

Church wanted someone to go over to Caboose's rock to help hold the position. Tucker refused to go, because he didn't want to go out into the open and get shot. Church then tried to get Doc to go over. Doc said he didn't have a weapon, and when Church suggested that he just go over there and yell "Bang, Bang, Bang", he was a little hesitant, as that still sounded pretty violent. Doc explained that he was a pacifist, and was only supposed to get involved if someone was hurt. Church shot Caboose's foot, which Doc had to help with the injury.

Tex was shooting all around Caboose, using a pistol and grenades. There were a lot of bullet holes around Caboose by the time "he" was done (this was before they knew Tex was a girl). After this, Tex ran off to get the flag back from Red Base.

Grif and Simons are on top of the red base having a conversation while Church spies on them with the sniper rifle, with Tucker at his side. Tucker gets defensive when Church gets mad at him for asking what's happening, explaining that all they ever do is stand there and talk. This episode basically explains the simplicity and stupidity of the situation in Blood Gulch. The only reason each army has a base in the boxed canyon is because the other army also has a base.

The series starts in Blood Gulch, moves to Battle Creek, Sidewinder, and Longest. Then everyone is transported to the future ('Halo 2') in Burial Mounds and Zanzibar. Except Church, he's sent to the past, where he roams Bungie's first game, 'Marathon'.

This annoys Sarge, so he asks Grif what animal has tusks, motioning towards the tusk-like design on the front of the vehicle. Grif responds by saying, "A walrus."

Basically this was just to ask why were they stuck in the middle of a canyon. Grif thought he was talking about something else, so the two started discussing why they were sent to Blood Gulch.

The Reds thought she came to war by mistake but she was actually there to replace the blues' captain (Cpt. Flowers). Lopez isn't seen until later in the season, O'Mally escaped from Doc, and Tex made a surprise visit to the blues five episodes onwards.

Red had Blue Base under siege, and ran out of ammo, and because Grif was asleep during the last staff meeting, he didn't hear that he was supposed to take in all the extra ammo. Red Team decided to give Blue Team a chance to surrender. Red Team didn't want to the Blue Flag, because last time, Tex showed up and destroyed everything. They then demanded Lopez back, but Church was using Lopez's body as his own. Blue Team decided to offer a medic (Doc), in exchange for the Red Team admitting that one of them sucked. The rest of Red Team got Grif to give a speech about how he sucked and was a girl, etc. After, Doc was sent over to Red Team.

After knocking out Donut and Simmons, Tex moved inside the base where "he" was captured. When "he" regained consciousness, Tex found out that her voice filter had been broken. Church explained to Blue Team that Tex was the reason he and his girlfriend never got married.

Sarge liked to call the new vehicle, M12 LRV, the Warthog. Grif argued that it didn't look much like a warthog, but a puma. Grif tried to explain that the puma was a big cat, but Sarge denied that it was a real animal. Sarge later heckled Grif by suggesting other animals, including Bigfoot, Unicorn, and other mythical animals.

Church is extremely cocky, and thinks that all of his teammates are idiots. He is the sniper of the series, and he can shoot quite well. In the Christmas Day PSA, we see him snipe some tiny Christmas ornaments. BLAM Church: Ha! Now your 'Ho! Ho! Ho!' is just a 'Ho! Ho!' Although as seen in Episode 52, he really can't shoot all that well.

Neither Grif nor Simmons are religious, but Simmons loves to talk about peoples' beliefs and/or memories. Grif denied he was talking about God but Simmons wanted to see if Grif would talk about it.

If you had "Halo: Combat Evolved" you would recognise the stage with all the teleporters. It's the Spartan combat training facility. Simmons believes it's the janitors closet.

"Dios mio no!" translates to "Oh my god no!". The explosion both destroys Sheila (the tank) and kills Tex, evidently removing the A.I. out of her head. Unfortunately, the A.I., which we later discover is named O'Malley, was able to escape into Caboose's head while he was using the radio to call Church.

Tucker reasoned that because Church was a robot, that he could fix the tank if he just activated his tank fixing program. Church was looking through his programming, while Tucker looked around on the outside. Tucker found a switch on Church, and it took a lot of persuading on Church's part to get Tucker to flip it. The switch ended up activating a homing beacon on the Warthog.

When Church proposed a plan to free Tex from Red Base, Tucker immediately stated that he hated plans, because a plan meant he had to do stuff. He explained that he would have preferred a strategy or a mission statement.

Grif and Simons had just assumed that Donut would wander the cliffs for a while and return, but instead, he went to the Blue Base where they had just received a tank. Donut started running to the base with glee, exclaiming "oh sweet, they sell tanks!"

Lopez was with the Red team, and then he got captured. Then for a few episodes, the creators decided to start having Church, who was now a ghost after Sheila the Tank shot him, move into other peoples bodies. He took over Lopez, but later switched into a body the Reds made for him so they could get Lopez back. These days, the only part left of Lopez is his head.

Although the tank goes to the Blues, Tucker complains, saying that you can't pick up chicks in a tank. Church responds by saying, "What chicks?"

Church didn't want any freelancers to come into the war because freelancers can be paid by anyone and he thought the reds would use a freelancer against them. The reds never attacked, nor did they bury Church.
