Since Ellidyer is such a snob, these are not the best circumstances for Taran to meet him in. For a long time afterwards, Prince Ellidyer calls Taran "pig-boy."

We are not told much about Gurgi's appearance, except that he has a great deal of hair. Gurgi is loyal to the death and will not abandon his companions under any circumstances. His rhyming speech is one of his many endearing qualities, describing eating as "crunchings and munchings" and fights as "smackings and whackings." When Gurgi is referred to by the enchantresses at Morva as "a gurgi", Eilonwy defends his individuality, asserting that he is Gurgi, not "a gurgi".

9. Who rules over Cantrev Cadiffor?

Jolly King Smoit is a large man, but "there's not a grain of harm in him," to quote Fflewddur. Smoit is at least mentioned in each book in the rest of the series, and he later offers to make Taran his heir. Adaon is another bard (though he's better than Fflewddur).

If you're wondering who really said, "To err is human, to forgive divine," it was Alexander Pope (1688 - 1744) in "An Essay on Criticism."
