From Quiz Wicked

The Clock of the Time Dragon is placed as the center of the Pleasure Faith, one of the three main religions in the book. It contains many magicked Tik-Toks and Ozian robots that act out seemingly random scenes for viewers. In the other two religions, Lurina, the center of The Lurinist Faith, is an ancient Witch believed to be the beginning of life. The Unionist Faith worships the Unnamed God.

10. Discounting his meeting his own reflection inside the tin can, who did What-the-Dickens encounter first?

From Quiz 'What-the-Dickens' by Gregory Maguire

Answer: McCavity

A rather fat white cat, McCavity inspires an instant and passionate reaction in What-the-Dickens. Naivete, a need for connection and a lack of world-weary cynicism lead What-the-Dickens to search for McCavity in the hope that he will have someone to belong to. With no further motivation than the desire to become McCavity's pet, What-the-Dickens embarks on a dangerous search that leads him into a world full of surprises.

12. Which student is madly in love with Galinda?

From Quiz "Wicked" the Novel

14. What was the machine that disturbed the town and made Frex a laughing stock?

From Quiz The Wicked Witch of the West

Answer: Time Dragon

The Time Dragon showed different scenes that were true and one was about Frex. The Grommetik is the tictok thing that Madam Morrible owns and uses to kill Dr. Dillamond, (a Goat).

15. What kind of animal is Doctor Dillimond?

From Quiz Wicked

Answer: Goat

Dr. Dillamond was not actually an "animal" but he was an "Animal". Just a regular animal is nothing of any importance, but an Animal, such as Dr. Dillamond, was dignified, intelligent, sophisticated, and well respected by many.

16. What separates an "animal" from an "Animal"?

From Quiz Wicked

Answer: The ability to talk

Animals, with a capital "A" can talk; animals with a lower case "a" cannot talk. Dr. Dillamond is a Goat, not a goat, else he would be unable to lecture to the students at Shiz Universoty.

17. What-the-Dickens had no idea that he was a tooth fairy until Pepper told him. She also told him the proper name of their race. What is that name?

From Quiz 'What-the-Dickens' by Gregory Maguire

Answer: skibberee

'Skibbereen can't be seen' to quote Pepper. But, throughout What-the-Dickens' story he is seen by many, both human and animal. His willingness to listen, his lack of censure and his good-hearted motives impart a strong moral lesson both to the children of the story and the reader.

18. If Clara's behavior in the van der Meer household were manifest today, what would the diagnosis probably be?

From Quiz Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister

Answer: Agoraphobia

Clara refused to leave the homestead, even though she expressed the desire to do so and see the world. In fact she even avoided passing by doors and windows. When the time came for the Ball with the prince, she had to be forced to go by Iris, and even then, she only went with her face veiled. Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder marked by the fear of public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may be unable to leave his or her home. It includes the fear of being embarrassed in a public place and the fear of being unable to escape.

19. Which familiar is Elphaba's first?

From Quiz "Wicked" and "The Wizard of Oz" (the books)

Answer: bees

In "Wicked", all the familiars are "collected" on the way to Kiamo Ko, beginning with the bees, then the dog, the crows, and lastly, the monkey. In "The Wizard of Oz", all the "familiars" are actually wild animals called to the Witch magically, using her silver whistle, but she refers to them as "her wolves", "her crows", and "her bees", possessively, much as does Elphaba.

20. What is the name of the prison where Nor is held?

From Quiz Son of a Witch - G. Maguire

Southstairs is a high-security prison in the Emerald City. No one that goes in ever comes out. Fun Note: Southstairs is where Shell Thropp works. Liir meets Shell while he is looking for Nor.

24. What dormitory was Galinda assigned to?

From Quiz The Wicked Witch of the West

Answer: Pink dormitory

Galinda was assigned to the Pink Dormitory because she didn't have an Ama to make her decision for her. She then was allowed to have her own room with Elphaba. Galinda later changes her name to Glinda after Dr. Dillamond died.

25. What is the name of our main character's sister?

From Quiz Wicked

Answer: Nessarose

According to the movie "The Wizard of Oz", the Wicked Witch of the East was inspired in Dorothy's dream by a woman named Elmira Gulch. The character of Nessarose did not appear in the original book.

26. What was Glinda's original name?

From Quiz Wicked

Answer: Galinda

After Dr. Dillamond is murdered, Galinda shortens her name to just "Glinda" in honor of him. Amaglinda is a combination of Ama from Ama Clutch, Glinda's Chaperone at Shiz, and Glinda. Yackel is another mysterious character in the book, and Candle is from the second book in this series, "Son of a Witch."

27. The rust-throated grisset, who first tried to feed What-the-Dickens to her nestlings, is particularly bad at which activity?

From Quiz 'What-the-Dickens' by Gregory Maguire

Answer: singing

After adopting What-the-Dickens, the mama grisset saves him first from McCavity, and later from an owl. Again, it's What-the-Dickens' lack of prejudice and earnest desire for connection that enables these two very different species to interact. And while What-the-Dickens recognizes the grisset's lack of singing ability, his reaction is simple and analytical, and forgiving, rather than harsh or demeaning.

28. Once in Holland, Margarethe and the two sisters found lodging and employment with the artist Master Schoonmaker. What did the Master keep behind locked doors?

From Quiz Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister

Answer: The gallery of God's mistakes

Schoonmaker had built his career on painting and selling sacred/religious art, but the Calvinist residents of Haarlem had no use for them. As a painter, he also catalogued the misshapen, "the unholy aberrations", which Schoonmaker said proves our need for God. He kept them locked up because they were so graphic and shocking.

29. The Witch in "Wicked" has the same physical "deformity" portrayed in the movie; she has green skin. In "The Wizard of Oz", however, she has a strikingly different deformity. What is it?

From Quiz "Wicked" and "The Wizard of Oz" (the books)

Answer: She has only one eye.

Many people are completely unaware that Baum's Witch has only one eye. This is not described in much detail, and only mentioned twice. There is no indication of her having lost an eye, and so having only one left. In fact, the eye she has is super-powered, "as powerful as a telescope", which would seem to point to her only ever having had one. Elphaba actually creates a telescope for herself, as she needs it!

30. What are the two tribes of the Great Kells (who are fighting in the beginning of the book) called?

From Quiz Son of a Witch - G. Maguire

Answer: The Scrow and the Yunamata

The Scrow and the Yunamata are fighting because each thinks the other is responsible for the face scrapings. They stop fighting when it is found out that dragons are responsible. Fun Note: The Scrow's leader is the Princess Nastoya, an Elephant. The Yunamata do not wear clothes, they simply paint their bodies with tribal markings.
