Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the Wicked Witch of the West?

Answer: Elphaba

There are suggestions in the book that her name is derived from the word "elf" because her skin is green- and there was much question as to her creation and who fathered her. Possibly her name is from the initials of the original creator of Oz - L. Frank Baum.
2. What kind of animal is Doctor Dillimond?

Answer: Goat

Dr. Dillamond was not actually an "animal" but he was an "Animal". Just a regular animal is nothing of any importance, but an Animal, such as Dr. Dillamond, was dignified, intelligent, sophisticated, and well respected by many.
3. What is the name of our main character's sister?

Answer: Nessarose

According to the movie "The Wizard of Oz", the Wicked Witch of the East was inspired in Dorothy's dream by a woman named Elmira Gulch. The character of Nessarose did not appear in the original book.
4. What is the name of the University which our main characters attend?

Answer: Shiz

We learn that this very sophisticated school is named Shiz. This is said several times throughout the book. Only the very smartest and/or richest students are accepted into this school.
5. What is the name of the young Munchkinlander who befriends our main character?

Answer: Boq

Boq and Elphaba first became friends due to Boq's interest in Galinda. During the summer, Boq and Elphaba worked together gathering information to assist Dr. Dillamond with his studies.
6. What strange deformity does our main character have?

Answer: Green skin

Yes of course. This one should have been very easy for anyone!
7. What strange deformity does our main character's sister have?

Answer: No arms

8. What is the name of Galinda's nursemaid?

Answer: Ama Clutch

Yes, it is our dear Ama Clutch, who ends up with the same horrible disease that Galinda pretended she had. She also witnesses Dr. Dillamond's murder.
9. What is the name of the Head Master/Mistress?

Answer: Madame Morrible

The name of the Head Master of Shiz is Madame Morrible, although the young girls do call her "Madame Horrible" behind her back.
10. How are the famous slippers presented?

Answer: A gift to the witch's sister from their father

Much to Elphaba's disregard, Nessarose was given the ruby (silver) slippers by their father - or Elphaba's father figure, since The Wizard was her real father. He made them especially for her out of the most beautiful gems he could find and glass beads which he made himself.
11. What is the name of the clockwork man that works for the Head Master?

Answer: Grommetik

The robot's name is Grommetik, and it has an important role to play in the storyline.
12. What is the name of the adult show?

Answer: Philosophy Club

This is the club that everyone talks about going to, but nobody ever wants to talk about what happens there.
13. Who killed Dr. Dillamond?

Answer: Grommetik

We learn this from Ama Clutch, because she witnessed it. This event is what ultimately threw Ama Clutch over the edge of sanity.
14. What is the name of the main character's first love interest? Remember this boy was also an outcast, and from the Vinkus tribe.

Answer: Fiyero

He was of the Vinkus tribe, and had blue tattoos painted all over his face and hands.
15. "Wicked" became a Broadway show. True or false?

Answer: True

Idina Menzel played the part of Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West), and Kristin Chenoweth played the part of Glinda in the original cast.
