During 'We Are One' she sings: "If there's so much I must be, Can I still just be me The way I am? Can I trust in my own heart? Or am I just one part Of some big plan?" The deceased Scar from the first movie was Kovu's stepfather. Zira believes that because of this, it should be Kovu who rules as King. Nuka (Kovu's brother) wants to be King instead but this idea is never accepted by Zira. In 'My Lullaby', Zira sings that Kovu will be their ticket to regaining all of their previous power. Kovu states that he doesn't want to, but Zira cuts him off before he can even finish his sentence.

When Simba reaches them, he treats Kovu the same way he did when he was little. Rafiki who has been watching comes down the hill shouting: "Hey! You! How dare you save the King's daughter?" Simba becomes confused and asks why he saved Kiara. Kovu then says he is a rogue from the Outsiders and asks if he can join the Pridelanders. Simba quickly refuses, but after some retorts from his wife and Zazu he lets him in.
