Freeman, born on June 1st, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee, was cast as William Somerset. Somerset arrived at the scene of a crime in which someone had been killed due to domestic violence. A colleague confirmed that whoever committed that murder did so out of passion. Detective Lieutenant Somerset observed how the walls were splattered with blood and facetiously stated there was "passion" on those walls. Somerset asked the other person if a kid witnessed this murder so the person responded by inquiring as to what would cause Somerset to think that. This person remarked to Detective Lieutenant Somerset what a joy it would be when his days on the force came to an end, alluding to supposed animosity between him and other cops. Nevertheless, he continued inspecting all areas of the apartment looking for clues aiding him in capturing the culprit. Freeman starred in the films "The Shawshank Redemption", "Glory" and "Batman Begins".

Tracy and David were seen comforting each other throughout the movie, that is, until tragedy struck. The serial killer targeted Tracy by cutting off her head, killing her. In 1999, she won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film "Shakespeare in Love".
