At the very end of the television series, the 'John' part was revealed when Carrie got a call from him and her cell phone showed his name on caller ID. In the movie, his full name, John James Preston, was first said when Carrie saw their wedding announcement in the newspaper. Carrie called him John in the movie but still also called him Big when talking to her friends.

She hurried but didn't make it; she pooped in her pants. This event was what made Carrie laugh again.

She looks down at the key-chain that Louise left with her - a simple gold LOVE in script - and figures out that that is the password. The folder contains dozens of emails from Big, all love letters from famous authors that he retyped to her. Now that's big love!

Early on in the movie, Steve confessed to Miranda that he'd slept with someone else, one time, because he and Miranda weren't having any sex. For a long time, she refused to talk to Steve about reconciling, but after she and Carrie had a brief falling out and Miranda begged Carrie's forgiveness, Carrie pointed it out that it wasn't fair that Miranda was so desperate for Carrie's forgiveness after only a few days, but would not even consider forgiving Steve after months. Miranda agreed to counselling, and eventually she and Steve decided that they'd meet on the Brooklyn Bridge, part way between their now-separate homes, and if they both showed up, they could get back together. Of course they did both show up and that was that.
