3. Which song made the US Mainstream Rock and US Modern Rock Number One spot in 1995?

From Quiz 'Throwing Copper'

Answer: Lightning Crashes

'Lightning Crashes' is a song dedicated by the band to a friend, Barbara Lewis, who was killed by a drunk driver. Barbara had many of her organs donated and the song reflects that her death enabled others to keep living. As 'Lightning Crashes' was never released as a commercial single, it was ineligible for the Billboard Top 100, but received significant enough airplay to make the top spot in other lists. It was also a Top 40 Hit in the UK. Generally, critics label 'Lightning Crashes' as the band's biggest hit.

4. What was the name of the album Live released under their former identity?

From Quiz 'Throwing Copper'

From Quiz 'Throwing Copper'

Answer: Radioactive

'Throwing Copper' was the second album released by Live through Radioactive, the first being their 1991 album 'Mental Jewellery'. All song lyrics were written by lead vocalist Ed Kowalczyk.

9. At 6 minutes 46 seconds, which song is the longest on the 'Throwing Copper' album?

From Quiz 'Throwing Copper'

Answer: Pillar of Davidson

'Pillar of Davidson' appears to split fans of the band down the middle, some pointing out that the slow beginning to the song prevented it from becoming a hit or at least preventing the song being released a single. However, many fans point out that the slow beginning gave way to a powerful ending crescendo and that the melancholy, mournful lyrics, allied to a haunting ending with brilliant backing vocals, leaves this song as an unappreciated artwork.

10. 'T.B.D' are the initials for what?

From Quiz 'Throwing Copper'

Answer: Tibetan Book of Death

The 1991 release 'Mental Jewellery', Live's first studio release, was heavily influenced by Ed Kowalcyzk's interest in Eastern Philosophy, and the album was said to be inspired by Indian guru, Jiddu Krishnamurti. 'Throwing Copper' was a clear break from the ideologies of the first album and certainly helped its critical acclaim and mainstream success. However, Kowalczyk made one or two small returns to the idea's of the first album, with 'T.B.D' standing for Tibetan Book of Death, based on Aldous Huxley's slow descent to death, aided by heroin.

The final song on the album once again splits fans down the middle, some claiming the song is far too 'country' for their tastes, others of the opinion that it is the perfect laid-back ending to what was otherwise a powerful album.
