103 goals and 99 points in their league matches ensured the Cobblers secured the title in only Graham Carr's second full season as manager of the club. This was a startling turn around from the 1984-85 season, which saw the Cobblers finish 18th and record their lowest ever Football League attendance of only 942 supporters for a match against Chester City.

Graham Taylor snapped up Hill to play for the Hornets. However, he was allowed to see out the season at the County Ground and finished as top goalscorer with 29 League Goals. Unfortunately his career at the top was cut short by injury seeing him retire from the game a few seasons later.

Jones was Northampton's manager between 1897-1907, with Chapman (better known for later managing Arsenal) taking the reigns between 1907-12. Bull lasted just one season before Lessons became manager between 1913-19. Other Northampton managers over the years have included Ian Atkins, Terry Fenwick, Clive Walker, and Pat Crerand.

Steve Berry played non-league football for Northamptonshire UCL side Cogenhoe United in 2007. Begining his professional career at Portsmouth, he played for Sunderland, Newport, Swindon and Aldershot, before joining the Cobblers. The goal against Coventry condemned them to their second successive third round defeat in as many seasons in the FA Cup, as the previous year they had been dumped out of the competition 2-1 by non-league Sutton Utd. Matthew Hanlon scoring the all imporatant goal for Sutton.

Taylor began his career with non-League Moor Green in 1991. Port Vale snapped him up after one season and he would play there until 1994, before Sheffield Wednesday became interested in the midfielder. After just four months at Hillsborough, Taylor moved to Aston Villa where he would play 233 League games until 2003, when he signed for Derby on a free transfer. Taylor signed for Northampton in June, 2005.

8. Name the Ipswich loan signing who lasted only 45 minutes of his debut against Bristol Rovers in the 1987-88 season, before being substituted by manager Graham Carr and sent back to the Tractor Boys.

Northampton set a record for their biggest League victory in that 10-0 win over Walsall on 5th November, 1927. Other results that season were an 8-0 win over Leyton in the FA Cup, 6-0 against Merthyr, and 5-0 against Exeter. Northamton finished in second place in the Division Three (South) table, 10 points behind champions, Millwall.

Tony Adcock began his football with Colchester United before he moved to Manchester City. He was one of the three players who scored a hat-trick for City in their 10-1 demolition of Huddersfield Town, along with teammates David White and Paul Stewart. He was then signed by Northampton Town in exchange for Trevor Morely, and had two spells at the club with a term at Bradford City sandwiched in-between.

McGoldrick moved to Arsenal in 1993, linking up with former Crystal Palace teammate Ian Wright. He made his debut for the Gunners in the Charity Shield against Manchester United on 7 August 1993, and his 38 games in that 1993-94 season included a substitute appearance in Arsenal's European Cup Winners' Cup final 1-0 win over Parma, Alan Smith scoring the goal for the then Highbury team.
