Known casually as just Mac (his first name is never mentioned) and in the field as 1 L-20, he was the go to guy when they needed a supervisor whether they needed extra equipment (such as tear gas) or accused of theft. He was played by William Boyett and appeared in 129 episodes. Boyett also appeared as a cop in 65 episodes of "Highway Patrol". Producer Jack Webb recruited him to appear in "Dragnet 1967" and "Emergency!" as well.

15. In the opening of the show, one of the calls the boys are dispatched is a 211. What is a 211?

From Quiz 'Adam 12'

Answer: Robbery

Calls are shortened to conserve air time. This was especially true before computers were in every patrol car. The call were shortened to the number that identified them, in the California Penal Code. Hence 211 is the section of the CPC that defines robbery.

16. The show was praised for its true-to-life-depiction of being a police officer in Los Angeles. How many times do the two officers get shot over the seven seasons of the show?

From Quiz One Adam-12

Answer: Three

The show is based on the initial premise that Molloy wants to get out of the LAPD because his long term partner was shot and killed on duty. Cue rookie cop Jim Reed... Molloy gets shot in Episode 22 of season 1 while Reed gets shot in a hostage situation in Season 5 Episode 20. However in a two part finale after 174 episodes in total, Officer Reed saved his partner, Officer Molloy's life when he gets shot in the course of discharging his duty. This was a nice juxtaposition to how their story started, Reed's wife urged him to leave the LAPD but his loyalty to his partner is absolute. Reed received the Medal of Valor for his bravery in saving his partner and his wife, recognised his loyalty and dedication to the LAPD and became proud of her husband.

17. Toward the end of the run, Officer Malloy fills in for Sgt MacDonald and Reed is made a training officer. One of his trainees was Dana Hall. What was unusual about Officer Hall?

From Quiz "Adam-12" - Mixed

Answer: A woman

This was 1975 and until then, police women were relegated to non-field jobs. Some of those duties included transporting female suspects to the women's jail, looking after unsupervised children and desk jobs among other jobs. Played by JoAnn Pflug, Officer Hall isn't well accepted by the other male officers. Officer Wells (who is generally a jerk anyway) makes many snide remarks to/about her until she saves him from getting beat up at an out of control rock concert. Officer Reed DOES accept her for what she is, a cop and they tend to get along. There was an episode that Reed and Malloy had a Commissioner tag along for a shift. She was played by Juanita Moore.

18. LAPD is divided into many divisions. Can you name the division that 1 Adam 12 was assigned?

From Quiz 'Adam 12'

Answer: Rampart

Even though they were assigned to Rampart, they seemed to be all over the city in different episodes. Each division has oddities and nicknames. "Shootin Newton" is one of those nicknames.
