From Quiz "Downtown in Decalburg - Obscure Tidbits"

Paper Mario: Sticker Star Trivia Questions

1. What is the main town of this game?

From Quiz
"Paper Mario: Sticker Star"

Answer: Decalburg

Rogueport was the main town of "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door." Flipsville was from "Super Paper Mario". The last one I made up (not to be confused with Toad Town).

2. In 1-3, Water's Edge Way, the first room is a stairway around and above a waterfall. In front of the waterfall is an island Mario can walk onto. There are two flowers, but what else is on this island?

From Quiz Attack of the Goombas

Answer: Two invisible blocks above the flowers

The flowers indicate that there may be something invisible between the two flowers or above the flowers themselves, perhaps an invisible block or a place where Mario can paperize a sticker into a ? Block. The block on the left has a Line Jump sticker and the one on the right contains a Shell sticker. Generally, if there is a seemingly empty space with flowers, there is either an invisible block or a place where Mario can paperize a sticker. If a circle of six upturned flowers are in a circle, then most likely Mario can paperize a sticker into the air above the center of the circle of flowers. However, don't be fooled by circles of five flowers, as Mario cannot paperize a sticker there.

3. After coming out of the cave past the door in 2-1, a new enemy is visible between the Save Block and the Recovery Block. Wearing a sombrero, it is a variation of which enemy?

From Quiz I Can't Feel My Face!

Answer: Shy Guy

The Sombrero Guy is a new enemy that appears many, many times in the desert. When Mario battles it, it has 15 HP. It will either throw its sombrero at Mario to attack him, heal all enemies in battle, or raise the attack of every enemy for two to three turns, including itself. It generally will jump into nearby initiated battles from the field. In the field, it will simply stand there and play its ukulele. If damaged or alone in a battle, Sombrero Guys will often, although not always, run away from the battle. If Mario defeats it before it runs away, it may drop a Sombrero sticker, which lets Mario throw a sombrero at an enemy.

4. At the beginning of the game you need to find how many toads to fix the town?

From Quiz "Paper Mario: Sticker Star"

Answer: Twenty-seven

Six of these toads are in the Festival Grounds. Many toads in the residence area are often where you least expect them.

5. When journeying through 1-1, Warm Fuzzy Plains, a Toad crashes into Mario and drops a rare Scissors sticker. Mario then must battle Bowser Jr. Is it required to use the Scissors sticker?

From Quiz Why Are There So Many Stickers?

Answer: Yes, he will keep on healing himself otherwise

Bowser Jr., flying in Bowser's Clown Car, has 20 HP. A Shiny Jump sticker can deal 19 HP damage at most, and Hopslipper stickers won't deal any damage, but after every turn, he will heal if Mario hurts him and then attack. If Mario doesn't use the sticker, then after the fourth turn, Bowser Jr. will point out he will definitely win, but says not to use the rare sticker because he really wants it. This is Mario's cue to use it if he hasn't already. Once Mario uses it, epic music will play and three green scissors will appear and cut the screen into little pieces, defeating Bowser Jr. in one hit. Once the battle ends, Bowser Jr. accuses Mario of cheating, takes the bridge from over the water, crumples it, throws it up a cliff, and flies away.

6. During the Sticker Fest, Bowser suddenly appears with a bunch of Goombas and Koopas and tries to touch the Sticker Comet. Three Toads try to stop him by doing what?

From Quiz Downtown in Decalburg - Obscure Tidbits

Answer: Grabbing onto his tail from behind

However, the Toads are not strong enough and Bowser leaps toward the Sticker Comet and touches it, causing five of the Royal Stickers to scatter, and the last one to land on Bowser's head. The Royal Stickers contain immense power and just one causes power to go berserk. When Mario jumps on him, Mario is knocked unconscious. Tip: Don't try to grab onto Bowser's tail to stop him unless you're Mario!

7. Mario has only one permanent partner in this game. What is his/her name?

From Quiz "Paper Mario: Sticker Star"

Answer: Kersti

Kersti is a silver crown sticker that rides the Sicker Comet. The other names I made up.

8. Once Mario returns to the beginning of Warm Fuzzy Plains to get help, a number of Toads will offer to help you. How many Toads?

From Quiz Why Are There So Many Stickers?

Answer: Five

Many first-time players may not know what to do, but if Mario asks Kersti, she suggests that they go back to see if they can get help. Four Toads will be running around panicking about all the Goombas, but the Toad Mario bumped into earlier when running away from Bowser Jr. is hiding behind a bush. If Mario talks to him, he jumps out and suspects you defeated Bowser Jr. easily. He calls the other Toads to combine in a stack and follow Mario to the bridge, or where it was, rather, to help. If Mario shows him to the ledge where Bowser Jr. threw the crumpled bridge on, the stack of Toads will stand on top of each and lean against the ledge to make stairs, allowing Mario to reach it. Afterwards, if Mario returns to the previous area and talks to a certain Toad, he will say that a new Toad saying is, "A stack of Toads can do anything!"

9. When you awaken from after the Sticker Fest, how many times must Mario jump until he becomes completely unfolded?

From Quiz Downtown in Decalburg - Obscure Tidbits

Answer: Three

A shouting voice causes Mario to wake up and discover Mario are completely folded up. After pressing A three times, Mario will unfold, and the screen will introduce Mario with a little "cutscene". When Mario looks around, he notices the Sticker Fest is completely ravaged after Bowser appeared and touched the Sticker Comet.

10. Probably the most missed normal sticker of the whole game, a big sticker resides in a block in an area that is behind some rocks at the top of the giant sand hill. What sticker lies there?

From Quiz I Can't Feel My Face!

Answer: Big 1UP

Many players miss this sticker because of the hidden area it is in. Inside is a big ? Block which contains the Big 1UP sticker. It is a green-and-white 1-Up Mushroom on a red background, and it has a sticker size of 1.5 x 1.5, meaning that both sides are 1.5 times longer than a normal sticker. When used, the sticker will gradually heal Mario's HP over ten turns. There is a Shiny and more effective version of this sticker that Mario can get later in the game.

11. How many Royal stickers are there?

From Quiz "Paper Mario: Sticker Star"

Answer: six

This includes the one Bowser has. You have to defeat each world boss to get them.

12. Mario hears the voice of a sticker named Kersti, who looks like a crown, on a sign with what portrayed on it?

From Quiz Downtown in Decalburg - Obscure Tidbits

Answer: Princess Peach

For first-time players, it might be difficult to notice that Kersti is the one who is talking. If Mario strays too far from the sign, she will say, "No, this way. Over here." If Mario gets to the sign before she has to say that, she will say, "Wow, you came right over here, huh? Good instincts. I like it." However, if she has to tell Mario to come back at least once, she will say, "Hey, you made it... finally. You sure took your sweet time, huh? But whatever. It's fine." She will then ask Mario to peel her off by holding the A button because, well, she's a sticker and she's stuck to the sign. Once you peel her off, the sign will fall over and she will fly into the sky.

13. In the first world there are three types of Goombas. What are they?

From Quiz "Paper Mario: Sticker Star"

Answer: Regular, Paper-cone, 2-fold

Paper-cone Goombas have spiked capabilities. 2-fold Goombas have good health and damage for early game.

14. Kersti accuses you of touching the Sticker Comet, destroying the Sticker Fest, and scattering the Royal Stickers. However, Mario tells her it was Bowser who touched the Sticker Comet. What happens immediately next?

From Quiz Downtown in Decalburg - Obscure Tidbits

Answer: Kersti yells at Mario for blaming Bowser

She will say Mario is cowardly and unpaper-like by pinning the blame on Bowser, but softens up when he tells her he will help retrieve the Royal Stickers. She will introduce herself, fly up into the air, and activate the short "cutscene" introducing herself. She says she came from the Sticker Comet, and that the Royal Stickers grant the wishes wished on the Sticker Comet. It is her duty to find them all so she can return to the Sticker Star.

15. When Mario approaches the treasure of the Yoshi Sphinx, Kamek appears and battles Mario after placing a spell on the Sticker Album. What happens to Mario's stickers?

From Quiz I Can't Feel My Face!

Answer: They are all flip-flopped into Sandal stickers

Kamek shoots a spell at the Sticker Album that turns all of Mario's stickers into Sandal stickers. They are basically weak Eekhammers that deal a constant number of damage. Shiny tickers, Flashy stickers, and Big stickers will turn into Shiny Sandals, Flashy Sandals, and Big Sandals, respectively, which will deal more damage than normal Sandal stickers. Any Sandals used will use up the sticker that turned into that Sandal, so if Mario does not know which sticker turned into which, then he has a risk of using up a Sandal sticker that was from a sticker he wanted. Kamek only has 20 HP, and will attack by either shooting a spell at Mario or flying into him on his broom. After taking some damage, Kamek will fly a little higher above the ground, rendering the Sandals ineffective. Kersti tells Mario he has to tough it out when he does that. Mario can either use Jump stickers that are given to him when Kamek flies into him, or just wait until he comes back down. After defeating him, the Sandals are turned back into normal stickers, and Mario is free to grab the treasure, which is a Tablet Piece Scrap. Kamek does appear and turn Mario's stickers into Sandals again much later in the game.

16. In 1-4, you need to fix the blades of the windmill. How do you do it?

From Quiz "Paper Mario: Sticker Star"

Answer: Make the Fan a Sticker, then Paperize it beside the windmill

The Green Toad doesn't fix the windmill when you save him, the blades are not a scrap, and your hammer is useless. You can make the Fan a sticker at the Sling-a-Thing platform in Decalburg.

17. On what side of the Sticker Fest area is the Toad that gives Mario the Hammer when he peels him off the wall?

From Quiz Downtown in Decalburg - Obscure Tidbits

Answer: North

To be precise, the Toad is actually stuck to the front edge of the stage. When the Bowser Tape sticking him to the stage is peeled off, he will tell Mario Bowser pasted them all over the area, and gives him the Hammer to help save the other Toads.

18. After going down a pipe which Mario paperized back into place, a giant Buzzy Beetle, the boss of 1-4, falls from the roof of the cave. With the exception of Thing stickers, what sticker is needed to defeat this boss?

From Quiz Attack of the Goombas

Answer: POW Block

The Buzzy Beetle has 40 HP and cannot be hurt unless it is flipped over with a POW Block sticker. It is then helpless and can easily be damaged. It gives you an HP-Up Heart after defeating it. Flipping over Buzzy Beetles, or any shelled creatures like Koopas and Spiny Tops, will render them harmless and will allow you to hurt them without trouble.

19. In 2-3, Sandshifter Ruins, the ruins is a maze that Mario must navigate. Ignoring any doors, what is the correct pathway to the exit?

From Quiz I Can't Feel My Face!

Answer: Right, Right, Left, Left

Going left, left, then right will bring Mario to a sand pillar that is an exit. Going right, right, and then right leads to another exit. Going right, right, left, then right will lead Mario to a door that leads into a room that will bring him to the same exit as if he had gone right, right, and then right. There are some gears that will turns when Mario falls into them, and after going right, right, left, and left, a gear will turn as he reaches the goal. If Mario plays this level again and takes the same path, he will fall onto a ledge with a door that leads to the secret exit. If he wants, he can jump down to the goal or to the exit from going left, left, and then right.

20. Once you get inside the windmill you need to find a code. What is the code?

From Quiz "Paper Mario: Sticker Star"

Answer: 4123

The Green Toad you save reveals it as a Goomba saying "Forwontothree". You have to enter the code correctly to reveal a warp pipe leading to a scrap required to complete the course.

21. When Mario nears the end of the stage, the three Goombas he pummeled in Decalburg return. However, they are stronger this time. What variation of Goombas do they transform into?

From Quiz Why Are There So Many Stickers?

Answer: Paper-Cone Goombas

Paper-Cone Goombas look like paper airplanes with the tips pointing upward. If Mario jumps on one, he will get hurt unless he is using an Iron Jump sticker. They have 7 HP each and fly toward you to deal damage, more than the average Goomba. The other answers to this question are all variations of Goombas that appear later in the game.

22. In 1-5, Whammino Mountain, a power-up returning from a previous game appears. If Mario gets it, he will be able to defeat all the Spinies with ease. What power-up is this?

From Quiz Attack of the Goombas

Answer: Starman

When Mario has the effects of the Starman, he will instantly kill any enemy he touches, getting coins and sometimes stickers. He must then continue, set off a chain reaction of land-altering events, retrieve the White Gate, paperize it into place, and reach the Comet Piece.

23. What theme is World 2?

From Quiz "Paper Mario: Sticker Star"

Answer: Desert

Ice is World 4, Forest is World 3 and Jungle is World 5. Worlds 1 and 6 are Grass and Bowser, respectively.

24. When Mario exits the Sticker Fest area and enters the closest house, there is a cabinet full of papers. If he opens it, how many Toads fall out?

From Quiz Downtown in Decalburg - Obscure Tidbits

Answer: Ten

One of the Toads says that Bowser neatly stacked them with the other papers, which seem to be musical scores. He says Bowser was pretty meticulous for such a big guy. They all then run off to the plaza to help "un-burrito" the place.

25. Finally, Mario reaches 1-6, Goomba Fortress. Very soon, a Goomba on a faraway tower will notice him. What Thing does he use to awake the Bob-ombs for attack?

From Quiz Attack of the Goombas

Answer: Trumpet

The Trumpet is the only one of those that is actually a real Thing. The Bob-ombs will rain down on Mario and he must run to avoid them. The Bob-ombs will sometimes drop Bomb stickers when defeated. Later, before the boss battle, the Trumpet will be left alone, free for Mario to obtain for himself. It has the size of a normal sticker when turned into one.

26. In 2-4, Damp Oasis, after filling up the oasis, you can go inside a Toad's house and climb to the roof. On the roof is a Thing called what?

From Quiz I Can't Feel My Face!

Answer: Shaved Ice

The Shaved Ice is a red Thing on the roof of the house. Mario can access the roof by opening up the window blind in the house. An invisible block is also on the barrel up there that contains a Burnhammer sticker. The Shaved Ice sticker is needed later in the game. A treasure chest is also in the house that contains a Tablet Piece Scrap. If Mario talks to the Toad, who is floating on a raft in the pool in the oasis, then he will say that the desert wind blew it there, and that Mario can take it if he wants, as he has no use for it.

27. What is World 1's Royal Sticker Boss?

From Quiz "Paper Mario: Sticker Star"

Answer: Megasparkle Goomba

I made two of the others up, but Tower Power Pokey has World 2's Royal Sticker. Megasparkle Goomba has a pattern of nasty attacks and 90 health.

28. On a ledge, two Goombas are taking turns attacking a poor Toad. If Mario stands up to them, they demand a price of how many coins to let him go?

From Quiz Why Are There So Many Stickers?

Answer: 20

Mario can also choose to battle them. If so, they will merge into a Two-Fold Goomba, an even more powerful Goomba with 10 HP and higher attack. Once they are taken care of, either way, the Toad will take a rare Thing, a Cat-O-Luck, he found, which provoked the Goombas to attack him until he gave it to them. The Cat-O-Luck also appears in a future level. This Toad needs rescuing once in each world, except World 6, and will reward you each time. After rescuing him all five times and visiting his house, there will be several pictures of his adventures. After reading the story on each on, the Toad will cry and give you an HP-Up Heart.
