Quest for Glory I Trivia Questions

1. What kind of creature is lurking in the tunnels near the Brigand Fortress?

From Quiz
"Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 3

Answer: Troll

There's a troll down there. Despite this, the tunnels may be your best bet, because the only other way into the Brigand Fortress is through an ambush area where you'll be shot full of arrows, not to mention a minotaur guarding the fortress gate. Both are harder to overcome than a single troll, despite its strength. Also, the troll hoards a lot of treasure!

2. The Butcher and Baker of Spielburg are missing. Where are they?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 1

Answer: Playing "Go Fish" at the local tavern

Spielburg has several shops, including a General Store, Fruit&Veg stand, a Tavern, and even a Magic Shop. The entire town is protected by a magical aura that works only during the day, but prevents any aggressive activities in town. At night, however, you should be careful if you want to walk around the streets.

3. Where is the minotaur hoarding his treasure?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 3

Answer: In his flail

The minotaur guards the main gate of the Brigand Fortress, which is the only way inside. It is the toughest enemy in the game - he hits hard and often, and can take a lot of beating before he goes down. Non-fighter characters can usually find a way to bypass the minotaur, but fighters will probably have to take him on. You have to be pretty good by the time you assault the fortress, otherwise expect to die promptly.

4. What will you see if you visit the Ring of Mushrooms at night?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 2

Answer: Fairies

The fairies will guard the magic ring with great zeal, and will kill you if you step inside. If you have enough agility you can dance for them, and be rewarded with fairy dust - a powerful magical ingredient.

5. There's a little old lady living in town. If you're playing the thief, You can break into her house for some nice and valuable loot. As you sneak around her house at night, you'll have to watch out for a little black cat. Why is that?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 1

Answer: The cat is really a morphed black panther

It's a guard-cat! One way to keep the cat appeased would be to feed and pet it every so often. This will keep it out of your way. The old lady's house has many nice valuable things you could steal... shame on you! You can also break into the Sheriff's house in this game, and there are many valuable things in there as well. Just watch out for the Goon!

6. Erana's Peace, a beautiful meadow at the north edge of the valley, hides some very valuable treasure. What kind of treasure is it?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 2

Answer: A Magic Spell

Erana's Peace is a beautiful area, and also has beautiful music to accompany it. As mentioned earlier, you can get a great night's sleep here, and just one fruit from the tree in the center will keep you fed for a whole day. The flowers growing here are also valuable, and the healer will pay well for a bunch. Most importantly, there is a magical spell scroll hidden in the garden. You'll have to use your magical skills (if you have any) to find and retrieve that scroll. If you manage to do so, you will learn the "Calm" spell, which enables you to avoid combat more easily. A great thing to have for magic-users, who are normally not very combat-worthy...

7. What is the Warlock's true name?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 3

Answer: Yorick

Alas, poor Yorick. I knew him well. He was the court jester at the Baron's castle, until the Baron's daughter was kidnapped. He vowed to bring her back, and found her living with the Brigands, her memories magically erased. He joined the Brigands to protect her, and still works for them under the guise of a powerful magic user. Once you tell him that you've come to rescue her, he will stop attacking you and you'll be able to cross the maze with far fewer distractions.

8. What is the name of the Brigand who loiters outside the town gate?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 2

Answer: Bruno

The brigands have a strong presence in the valley. They didn't use to be much of a bother, until some time ago a Brigand Leader appeared who organized them into a strong fighting unit. They also have a mysterious warlock, and their fortress is extremely well defended.

9. In the mess hall, you'll meet three comedians who are making a cameo appearance in this game, in brigand uniforms! They are very famous characters from 50's slapstick movies. What is their screen name?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 3

Answer: The Three Stooges

Larry, Curly and Moe will be the last brigands to enter the mess hall, and you'll have to be smart about how to deal with them. They're much more harmful than the actual three stooges ever were (imagine that!), so don't let them catch you. Once you defeat them, you can escape into the warlock's maze.

10. Who's the owner of the rug you'll find in the Brigand Leader's chamber?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 3

Answer: Abdulla

Shameen and Shema are two creatures from the cat-like "Katta" race, hailing from the desert lands of Shapeir. They run the Adventurer's Inn in Spielburg, but are longing to go back home to their city. Abdulla Doo is a merchant from Shapeir who was on his way to pick up Shameen and Shema, but he was waylaid by Brigands and his magic carpet and all belongings were stolen. Now all three are stranded in Spielburg, unless of course you can pick up that rug! If you do, they'll take you with them when they leave Spielburg, heading off to your next adventure in "Quest for Glory 2: Trial by Fire".

11. What is the earliest day on which you can finish the game?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 3

Answer: There's no minimum

The events in "Quest for Glory 1" are not time-based, but rather they are skill-based. Meaning, if you're not skilled enough, you may not be able to overcome some of the challenges required to finish the game. If you train up quickly and efficiently, and do everything without wasting time, you might be ready to face the final challenges very soon. On your first game however, you might spend over a month (of game-time) to work up the skills you'll need, and collect all the items. But there is certainly no lower or upper limit, and unless you're in a hurry to finish the game, you can spend many days improving your character's attributes to 100 points each. This is very useful, because you can later import your character into the next game in the series, allowing you to keep all of the hard work you've put into maximizing your skills. This is true for EVERY "Quest for Glory" game, although the second game is a bit more rigid when it comes to the timing of specific events...

12. To free the Baronet Barnard von Spielburg, you'll need to kill his captor, a dangerous Kobold. The Kobold isn't an easy enemy, because he has a very powerful attribute - which is it?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 2

Answer: He can cast spells

The Kobold fight is not as dangerous as it sounds, because there are many ways to even the odds, especially if you're a spell caster yourself. A fighter character might take a lot of damage fighting this creature though, because the Kobold can teleport all around his cave and you have to chase him while he hurls flame darts at you.

13. What is the color of the Head Meep, the only one who'll talk to you?

From Quiz "Quest for Glory 1" (PC) - Part 1

Answer: Green

Meeps look like overgrown furballs with two eyes and a pair of chicken legs. They live in a community where the meeps burrow tunnels into the ground in a network, then cover all the openings with rocks. Meeps will then peek out from under those rocks to make sure the coast is clear. There are many colors of Meeps, but only the Green one can talk, and he is also the Head Meep. Meep Fur is a magical ingredient for the powerful Dispel Potion. The Meeps can also give you a magical scroll, containing the "Detect Magic" spell.
