1. Why did Claire go to Paris in the first place?

Her brother Chris was the reason for "Resident Evil 2" and "Code Veronica". Chris was in the Arklay Mountains for Resident Evil one and so Claire came to Raccoon City in "Resident Evil 2" to look for him, but ended up meeting Leon for the first time. In "Resident Evil: Code Veronica" Claire heard about Chris being in Paris, so she went to look for him but got caught and sent to Rockfort Island where her journy begins.

Rodrigo lets her out, as he believes she won't be able to escape the island anyway. At this point he falls ill, and the player can choose whether to come back and cure him or not later in the game.

The M93R is Claire's main gun that she finds off a zombie when she meets Steve Burnside. She gets the M100Ps from a zombie in a prison area - these are very powerful against bandersnatches. She gets the bowgun on a counter in a lab. It's not very powerful but there's a lot of ammo for it. Finally, she gets the grenade launcher from a room you have to use a card key to get in. It is recommended that you use this for tyrants and spiders.

Claire can use it to heal Rodrigo and receive the lockpick set as thanks. When Chris finally arrives on the island, Rodrigo will also give him the lighter if the player chose to use the medicine.

Trial and error is how I figured this out, but the official answer is found on the tag with the key in the sauna. The date December 8th is printed in the tag. This is the founding date of the island.

Wesker, however, was far more powerful than Chris and almost killed him. With some quick thinking, Chris escaped from Wesker, and the Antarctic base, along with his sister, Claire.

It's the Linear Launcher, which goes into FPS view and can kill Alexia with one shot (luckily it has infinite ammo). Players can actually unlock the weapon for normal use throughout the game by achieving an A rank with all characters in the battle game.
