"Excitebike" was released in 1984 for the NES, but several re-releases have been present on other systems, including the Gameboy Advance and the Wii Virtual Console. It also had one other sequel before "Excite Truck", for the Nintendo 64: "Excitebike 64".

You can get a new "paint job" for each truck after using it often enough, and switch between both the new and the original one whenever you want. For most trucks it is truly just a different pattern, but for the Wolf the entire back is replaced.

After completing the Platinum cup in Excite and not having S's in all the courses, you just get a message saying that you need to get an S on all the courses to unlock Super Excite. So you get to go back and redo all the courses if you didn't get an S on them in the first place.

It is an unusual feature that only two people can race each other in "Excite Truck". A vertical screen split is also unusual for a racing game, but it helps to see your path when you're high in the air.
