1. Who holds the Will of Mary Magdalene?

Answer: KOS-MOS

Mary Magdalene was split into two segments; body and will. T-elos is the physical form of Mary, while KOS-MOS holds her spiritual segment. Shion and Kevin are simply responsible for their creation.

"Also Sprach Zarathustra" is the subtitle for "Xenosaga Episode III". It is a german phrase that translates to "Thus Spoke Zarathustra". Really, all of the subtitles of the games are in German.

Answer: Canaan

Canaan is a Realian capable of handling an E.S. in ways that are physically impossible for humans to withstand. Unfortunately, Canaan is not a playable character in the game.

It turns out that what these people are looking for has something to do with a rectangular shape pressed into the ground. Dr. Masuda places an object that he has in his possession into the hole in the ground. Lines reaching out from the rectangular shape begin to glow blue, and the whole digging site goes into chaos as the ground begins to tremble. From under the water, a giant gold block-like thing stretches to the sky, the blue lines leading to it over pillars that had come up out of the water. The gold block launches some sort of beam into the sky, and the scene ends, as action moves years into the future.

MOMO (short for Multiple Observable Mimetic Organicus) is the prototype for a whole new series of Realian's called the 100-Series Observational Realian. She was captured and put into a base called the Pleroma by Commander Margulis. She was rescued by Ziggy.

As a matter of fact, Allen and Miyuki have been with us since the first chapter of "Xenosaga". We met Canaan in the second, but we have never had the chance to battle with them (unless you count the beginning of the second chapter, where it was Canaan and chaos in the E.S.).

Then the scene shifts to an airship (in outer space) where the important characters Shion and Allen, and later Kos-Mos and Commander Cherenkov, are introduced. Shortly after this scene, gameplay begins in virtual reality.

Gnosis are completely composed of salt. When they die, they become pillars of salt, or simply fall into a pile of it. Sodium Chloride, when they are solid masses, such as Gnosis who have been effected by the Hilbert Effect; and Sodium Hydroxide (and water) when they are transparent, indestructible masses, which act more like ghosts than monsters. If a human or other being is touched by a Gnosis, they will either die by breaking down into Sodium Chloride (salt), become a salt-statue, or become a Gnosis themselves.

Very nautically themed, Moby Dick's is a restaurant the Shion seems to have frequented as a teenager. Shion was surprised when she walked in though because the location was different from before.

Shion and Kevin are talking about what he should say to KOS-MOS when they finally "wake her up". The circumstances that she does wake up in are not pleasant at all, and no one gets a chance to tell her "Good morning".

Hammer once hacked into the database of a criminal organization and has been on the run, which is why he joined up with Matthews. Tony is the helmsman and Matthews is the captain. Chaos is the protector of the ship.

Kirschwassers are the 99-series realians, created as the prototype-MOMO's prototype. All designed, even before the 100 Series' plans, to look like Sakura.

The data that she had forgotten was supposed to be the final field data for KOS-MOS, but Vector Facilities had gotten a little behind and did not have the complete data yet. As Allen is giving her the disk, Shion has a strange vision of a little girl with orange hair, which she continues to see in other areas of the game.

Before Ziggy became a cyborg, his human name was Jan Sauer. Ziggy's actual cyborg name was Ziggurat 8, but MOMO called him Ziggy because it made him more human. In one a flashback of his on Pleroma he remembered he got his stepson a fake dog called Nexus 6 but his stepson just called him Nex.

Yasunori Mitsuda not only worked on the "Xenosaga" and "Xenogears" scores; but also on a fair few others titles such as "Chrono Trigger" and "Chrono Cross". Nobuo Uematsu is most famous for the "Final Fantasy" scores. Yoko Shimomura is well-known for her beautiful works on the "Kingdom Hearts" scores, and Kenji Yamamoto is best known for his work with the "Dragon Ball" games' musical scores.

This knowledge struck Shion hard. Kevin was her fiance that was killed by the KOS-MOS archetype when it went on a rampage. Shion tried to leave with him once, but KOS-MOS intervened and took her away to safety.

These are basically machines like KOS-MOS, used for combat to protect the crew that they were created for. KOS-MOS may be a machine, but you will soon see that she is much, much different then she seems.

Andrew Cherenkov was the second in command of the Woglinde, under Captain Moriyama. He transforms into the powerful Gnosis called the Gargoyle inside the Cathedral Ship.

If you look carefully in some of the cutscenes featuring Kevin, you can see that the necklace Shion wears used to be worn by him. She took it off his body when he was killed, and kept it in memory of him.

Wilhelm is simply the messenger of God, chaos represents Yeshua, aka Jesus. And Yuriev is simply the creator of the U.R.T.V. units, acting as their DNA donor and "Father" figure. U-DO is stated to be "The Creator" more than once in the series, and though it is stated as such, U-DO can also be viewed as a more demonic figure. However, it is confirmed at the end of episode III that U-DO is in fact, the representation of God in the series.

The Zohar begins to play an important role in "Xenosaga", as you can probably tell because the first scene revolved around how it was discovered. Another thing worth mentioning: A person in space that touched the Zohar mysteriously disappeared. Note: The Zohar is on the ship that Shion is currently living in.
