Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Bird

Answer: Rhinoceros hornbill

This unique looking bird has a long bill and a long curve above the bill called a casque. Most of the birds are black but they have very colorful casques. The only difference between males and females is the eyes, which have different colors. Like the rhinoceros, they are also hunted by potential poachers. You can find these beautiful birds in Asia where they are the national bird of Malaysia, but you can find them in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia too.
2. Cattle

Answer: Shetland

These cows come from Scotland and the male can weigh over 1000 lbs / 453 kilograms. This is a small breed of cow since it's about four inches (10 cm) shorter than a normal sized cow. These cows love grassy fields, which makes Scotland a perfect home for them. Most of the cows will be black with white spots on them. What's really unique about them is their long hair.

They are also rather rare with fewer than 200 being born each year. The Rare Breeds Survival Trust has set up ways to try and protect and breed more Shetland cattle, but they are still extremely rare even with their help.
3. Dog

Answer: Peruvian Inca orchid

If you're looking for a dog that doesn't shed, this would be a perfect fit for you. The dog was found in Peru and the people of Peru nicknamed the pups as "flower dog". Since the dogs are hairless you cannot leave them in the sunshine for long, as their skin would burn. If you look at the pictures of these dogs, you can see they are bald and not very good looking pups.

They have perky ears and a long thin tail and usually thin and upright. Yet, you will find the sweetest dog that is perfect for a family since they are very loyal and loving.
4. Cat

Answer: Scottish fold

When you look at this cat you'll be wondering if you are looking at a real cat. The facial features are almost fake looking. Their ears fold forward and their big eyes resemble something out of a cartoon. Some people think their faces look like an owl with their roundness and big eyes.

The first cat was found in Scotland, the owner bred the cat and 42 more cats were born with the cute folded ears. The cats usually weigh between 6 to 13 pounds (3 to 6 kilograms) depending on gender. If you are looking to adopt one, make sure that you have lots of time with them, they do not like being alone.
5. Snake

Answer: Saint Lucia racer

One of the rarest snakes in the world is the Saint Lucia racer. As you'd expect from the name, you can find them in the Caribbean. They like living in both forests and low lying shrub areas. They are commonly close to 4 feet (1.2 meters) long. Most of them have brownish colors with little lines on them, but a few have been known to have a black or grey tint to them. If you do see them, make sure you do NOT kill them They are not venomous and supposedly there are only a small number left in the world! I do know me, I would scream and run the other way!
6. Butterfly

Answer: Peacock pansy

This beautiful orange and yellow butterfly can be found in Asia. The wingspan is a small 40 to 55 millimeters (one to two inches). They have beautiful black circles on the wings also.

Just one tiny little egg is formed on a leaf (they call this the host plant) and it takes about three days before the first caterpillar appears. Every couple of days the caterpillar turns a darker color until it curls up under the leaf for five more days until a beautiful butterfly comes to life. I think it would be so cool to set up your camera on a time lapse video to watch the creation of butterflies.
7. Fish

Answer: Zebra danio

When you hear the word "zebra" you expect to see a large animal, not a fish, but these fish are quite the lookers with black and white stripes on them. They resemble a minnow as they are part of the minnow family. If you purchase them for your aquarium make sure that you buy at least a half dozen.

They like being in groups and survival rate is stronger. Also you may not want too many other fish in your tank, as the zebra danio can get a little greedy and want more room themselves. This fish is native to Asia.
8. Horse

Answer: Irish cob

This is one gorgeous looking horse. The legs are feathered and absolutely breathtaking when you see them. They can be as high as 16 hands (1.63 meters or 64 inches) tall and can live up to 25 years. Other names of this horse are the galineers cob and gypsy horse. You can usually find them in the United Kingdom area and have been around since the mid 1800s.

These strong looking horses were designed to help gypsies travel from town to town, which is why they were called gypsy horse in the beginning.

They sent some over to the United States in the 1990s. If you're looking to buy one, plan on having a quite a few bucks to pick one up, they are beautiful but the price tag is high! If you're looking for a show horse, you're looking at an even bigger chunk of change!
9. Turtle

Answer: Diamondback terrapin

You can find this turtle in the United States and also on the island of Bermuda. They can live up to 40 years old. I find it comical that the females are usually twice as big as the males at 11 inches (28 cm) in length. You may own one of these turtles, but they like to nip at you at times, so be cautious while handing them. I also want to note that they should not really be handled too much.

It's not healthy to keep picking up turtles very often. You want to feed them snails, seafood and shrimp. You also want to make sure that you keep water in your aquarium for them, they can't survive more than eight hours without water. You can find them living in Florida.

They like freshwater and they like to stay around places like the mangroves.
10. Monkey

Answer: Bald uakari

These monkeys either look like a new born baby, or a very old man, as they have little hair on their heads and extremely red faces. They are very tiny, weigh just barely over 6 pounds (2.7 kilograms) and are very short. You can find these little fellows in the Amazon jungle in South America where they can live up to 20 years. You can usually find them eating all sorts of foods from the jungles, but mostly fruits and leaves. What I found unique was that they mate for life.

If you're curious how to pronounce their name it's "WUH CAR E".
