Answer: Darwin

We have four scientists here - Einstein, Galileo, Hawking, and Mendeleev. Charles Darwin is the only scientist in the possible answers. Following a voyage to the Galapagos islands between 1831 and 1836, Darwin brought back examples of many birds among other animals.

The birds, which were thought to be varieties of the same bird were studied and shown to be different species which came from different islands and this caused Darwin to think how that might have happened. Darwin published his book "On the Origin of Species" in 1859 which proposed his Theory of Evolution.
