Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Pen Nick
Answer: Panic
Panic is the state of such strong fear overtaking one that there is no room left for logical analysis of the frightening situation that caused the panic, or the possibility of applying rational solutions to it. The origin of this word takes us back to the old Greek myths and their god, Pan, associated with shepherds and pastoral activities. Normally he was a happy enough soul skipping through the countryside playing his pipes melodically - but should he be awakened suddenly from a sleep, he was prone to shouting in fright.
This in turn created havoc all about him. Pan was also a rather off-putting fellow when it came to the ladies, any available nymphs, and most sexual activities.
2. Anne Cur
Answer: Anger
Anger is an intense emotion, along with rage and fury, that, if incapable of being controlled, can lead to some very terrible consequences. Each individual is different when it comes to what can cause anger to boil over, and how they react to it. Most, if completely overwhelmed by hot rage, will lash out violently in some way. That is when tragedy can occur.
Some will strike directly at the cause of the anger, whether it be a person or object, others will direct their anger elsewhere. Others, if consumed by a cold and calculating anger, can use that emotion to exact a terrible revenge.
3. Height Tread
Answer: Hatred
Hatred is an emotion associated with a deep and very intense dislike and animosity towards someone or something. As with all negative emotions, hatred, if acted upon, can have dire results. We use the word "hate" too freely in today's world. Pure hatred is a dreadful, dark and evil state of mind.
4. Jill Ass Sea
Answer: Jealousy
Jealousy, in its basic forms, is usually the fear of losing something of great personal value to a rival. It comes with feelings of insecurity, lack of self-worth, and self-doubt. If allowed to overcome one, jealousy can destroy a relationship faster than any other action can.
Many people today use jealousy and envy synonymously, but envy is a different emotion altogether. Envy is associated more with feelings of covertness, that is, wanting some goods or skills or life-styles etc that other people, organisations, or even nations possess and that you wish you yourself had.
5. Hiss Tory Ah
Answer: Hysteria
Hysteria is any emotion that has taken over a person to such an extent that that person is no longer capable of sound judgement, action or thought. It can be associated with a deep and consuming grief that has burst forth into completely uncontrollable weeping - or hero worship of a pop star to such an extent that all one can do is scream or cry helplessly upon sighting that goose - or hysterically screaming with fear when danger threatens one's very life.
Stupidly so, "doctors" for thousands of years associated this emotion with women only and put it down to a disease of the uterus of all things. (Pardon me while I snort). Anyone though, with or without that physiological miracle that can give birth to an entirely new human, can have hysterics. What nonsense doctors have come up with about women over time.
6. Hue Millie Hay Shun
Answer: Humiliation
Humiliation is associated with feelings of mortification, embarrassment and being made to look a fool in some way, by some other person or people. It can even be the result of one's own actions that have backfired in some way. Your pride and feelings of self-esteem have received a hearty blow in other words. Humiliation can also take on a far darker meaning when it is used to torture and publicly shame individuals for the purpose of gaining or reinforcing control in some way. Altogether, it's a very unpleasant emotion, no matter how it is delivered.
7. Boar Dumb
Answer: Boredom
Boredom is a state of mind when a person has lost all interest in his or her surroundings, is not stimulated in any way intellectually or emotionally in anything happening about them, and has completely lost their joie de vivre. This emotion can actually do a lot of harm to a person if remedial steps aren't put into place to alleviate it, and can even lead to more serious psychological issues.
8. Loan Lean Is
Answer: Loneliness
Loneliness can be soul-destroying. It is a lack of company, or friendship, or support in any way, or even just another person to speak to now and then. A person can eventually feel as though they have been totally overlooked by everyone, that nobody exists to care about them, and that their very existence is of no consequence to the world at all. Even describing it evokes unpleasant sensations in the mind.
The worst thing about loneliness is that it can feed upon itself, and eventually lead to terrible thoughts of suicide and death. Say hello to someone with a sad face today. You could make all the difference to that person's life.
9. Rig Grit
Answer: Regret
Regret is a type of sorrow and remorse for actions in one's past that that person now wishes had never been carried out. It's poignancy and sting rest in the knowledge that those actions cannot be undone, no matter what, and that they either directly or indirectly have caused pain or harm to others. Regret is quite possibly one of the worst emotions of all, for its very acknowledgement gives it continual life.
10. Up Bath He
Answer: Apathy
Apathy is a lack of all feeling and reactions to just about everything. It's a terribly numbing condition where the person experiencing it simply doesn't care about a thing. Nothing is getting through to him or her, and the normal human responses are deadened.
This can be the result of trauma, learned helplessness or any number of causes. A terrible way to feel, it's very hard to jolt a sufferer of apathy back into the world of the living.
