Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Uglybirds go in for sports. Their favorite football team is, of course, the _____ Mynahs.

Answer: Forty

Mynahs are susceptible to an iron storage disease called hemochromatosis, which also occurs in humans. For this reason Mynahs should abstain from rhubarb and red meat. I don't think they actually watch football.
2. A Italian uglybird is disturbed at your poking your nose into his business. In broken English he insists that you do what?

Answer: Mynah your own business

Ellsworth, a mynah bird, appeared in Mickey Mouse newspaper comics starting in 1949. He also appeared in Italian drawn Mickey Mouse comics. I am not making any of this "interesting information" up!
3. You're probably getting the hang of this. You should have no problem guessing to which city in Gondor Aragorn the uglybird was traveling.

Answer: Mynah's Tirith

So far as I know Mynahs are not part of the fauna of Middle Earth. However it is known that mynah birds were introduced to Mauritius in 1792 in order to fight the wicked red locust, Nomadacris septemfasciata.
4. Adolph the Uglybird, an evil Nazi dictator, wrote a book while in prison to describe his struggles. What was the title?

Answer: Mynah Kampf

I can learn nothing of Adolph Hitler's feelings towards Mynah birds. However, Lotte Lehmann, an Austrian prima donna who fled when Hitler absorbed Austria, travelled with dogs and talking Mynah birds.
5. The famous artist, Leonardo Da Uglybird painted a picture of a smiling young woman... er... female bird. What was it called?

Answer: The Mynah Lisa

Although Leonardo Da Vinci never painted an uglybird, this was merely a mynah omission. The less well known Li K'u-chan (1898-1983) is responsible for the masterly "Mynah bird on a Palm Tree", part of the Chu-Griffis Asian Art Collection at Connecticut College.
6. A truck has run over a most unfortunate uglybird. He sings a mournful tune, but in what key?

Answer: A Flat Mynah

Bruce Palmer and Neil Young of Buffalo Springfield fame first played together in a bend called the Mynah Birds in 1966.
7. Thales the uglybird noticed sometime before 6000 BC that the stars forming the wing of the constellation, Draco the dragon, looked more like a little bear following the great bear. Today we call the great bear the Big Dipper and the little bear the Little Dipper. What was Thales the Uglybird's name for the Little Dipper?

Answer: Ursa Mynah

(Thales did, in fact, name Ursa Minor circa 6000 BC.) Here's another obscure Mynah fact: Sariputra, the name of an Indian philosopher means son of Sari, Sari being a term for Mynah bird.
8. In his best season Babe Ruth Ugly Bird hit 103 home runs and had a .748 slugging percentage. He is not in the hall of fame. This is because he played not in the National or the American but in the _____ ______?

Answer: Mynah Leagues

Ruth has been described as being, "faster than a diving mynah bird, stronger than the jaws of your neighbor's pitbull." Who, you ask, Babe Ruth? Of course not! The above is a description of Ruth Heidrich, Hawaiian resident and Senior Olympic's Gold Medalist.
9. Billy Graham had a great deal of trouble reaching the uglybirds until he started to preach exclusively from what section of the Bible?

Answer: The Mynah Prophets

The word bird occurs infinitely more often than does the word Mynah in the NASB version of the Bible. (The word Mynah does not occur at all.) However, bird is the noun that Emily Dickinson uses most frequently in her poetry, and Shel Siverstein wrote "The Hill Mynah".
10. In a remake of "Finding Nemo" uglybirds are substituted for seagulls. A flock of them spy a delicious looking sea cucumber seed. They repeat which word over and over again?

Answer: Mynah

I think it would be perfectly all right, by the way, for sea cucumbers to have seeds in a cartoon. In real life, however, it is recommended that seeds be removed from fruit before it is fed to a mynah bird.
