Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Without using the letters in the word AMPUTATION, what limb can be removed from the body during such a procedure?

Answer: Leg

What a better way to begin a 'Words Without Words' quiz than with a removal of something?
An amputation is the surgical process of removing a limb or extremity from the body. This can include the legs, feet, arms, and hands of a person. While it's certainly not the best thing to happen, amputation can save lives, especially if the body part needing to be removed is infected. The film "127 Hours" (directed by Danny Boyle) may give you more insight as to a harsher, less-sterile method of this procedure.
2. Without using the letters in the word MONTEVIDEO, what is the name of the country in which this capital city is found?

Answer: Uruguay

Uruguay is a South American country resting on the edge of the South Atlantic and Montevideo happens to be its capital (situated directly on the coast. Originally settled in the eighteenth century, Montevideo is an interesting, vibrant city with Spanish roots.

Besides, who wouldn't like to spend a nice sunny vacation on the beach in an otherwise lesser-visited spot? While it's not as hot as Brazil or parts of Argentina, Uruguay is certainly a great place to rest on a beach (at least in the summer).
3. Without using the letters in the word SCIENTOLOGY, what is the last name of the founder of said belief system?

Answer: Hubbard

Founded in the 1950s by L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology gained more prominence in the nineties and naughties because of celebrities who joined the religion and proliferated the ideas of Dianetics. Amongst those who have been identified as Scientologists are Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Kirstie Alley.
Although controversial, the Scientologist Movement was one of the more famous new religions of the twentieth century taking in millions of followers as the decades rolled on. Hubbard passed away in 1996.
4. Without using the letters in the word OLYMPIC, in which city were the 2004 Olympic Games held?

Answer: Athens

Answer: Cujo

Stephen King's seventh book, "Cujo" was about a dog bitten by a bat to contract rabies. A mother and son, trapped in their car during three hot summer days fought to survive a harrowing attack brought on by this insane dog. The book was made into a film two years later.

6. Without using the letters in FAMILY GUY, what is the first name of the Griffin family patriarch?

Answer: Peter

Peter Griffin is an overweight Rhode Islander who acts as a main character on the FOX animated series "Family Guy" created by Seth MacFarlane. Along with Lois, Chris, Meg, Stewie, and Brian, Peter embarks on several odd adventures with the family, many of which end up being quite hilarious. Show creator Seth MacFarlane also created "American Dad" and the "Family Guy" spin-off "The Cleveland Show".
7. Without using the letters in the name RINGO STARR, what song by The Beatles was their first single under the Apple Records label?

Answer: Hey Jude

Released in 1968, "Hey Jude" became one of The Beatles' signature songs. Originally written by Lennon and McCartney, the songwriters claimed that the song was written for Julian Lennon. 8. Without using the letters in LIECHTENSTEIN, what is the capital city of said principality?

Answer: Vaduz

Caught between Austria and Switzerland, the Principality of Liechtenstein is one of the smallest areas in all of Europe. A meager 160km squared in area, it's actually quite a rich country. While Vaduz is the capital of this region, it's not the largest city in the principality; that would be Schaan. Vaduz, however is a beautiful location in the Alps resting on the Rhine River.
9. Without using the letters in BETELGEUSE, what is the constellation in which that star is found?

Answer: Orion

One of the stars found in Orion, Betelgeuse is the second-brightest in the entire constellation and the eighth-brightest in the sky. A supergiant, Betelgeuse is much larger than our own sun. The other stars in Orion are Rigel and Bellatrix, the former of which is brighter than Betelgeuse. Betelgeuse is over six hundred forty lightyears away from Earth but, if it were to become a supernova, scientists say it would still affect our planet. None of the stars mentioned here are a part of Orion's Belt- those would be Mintaka, Alnilam, and Alnitak.
10. Without using the letters in the name SNOW WHITE, which is one of the seven dwarfs?

Answer: Grumpy

The seven dwarves from the fairy tale and Disney film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" are Doc, Dopey, Happy, Sneezy, Bashful, Sleepy, and Grumpy. Because this question looks for only one name not using the letters in 'SNOW WHITE', Grumpy is the only possible fit.
"Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" follows the classic story of a the fairest girl of them all who comes across a house in the forest owned by seven dwarves. The Disney film was released in 1937 and was the first feature-length film to be released in the Disney canon.
